@Shanus  thank you for your post.   I'm writing this in tears this morning as it was just announced that a police officer in our city was killed overnight.   Just 6 weeks ago an officer in the next city over was killed.   These young men ages 23 and 27 were protecting us.

Earlier today I posted on another thread about the hatred and bigotry that was being expressed. 

This has to stop.   There are very real threats against our country and we can not be fighting amongst ourselves. 

Please everyone stop the hatred and let's celebrate our oneness.

Thank you, @Shanus . I have no plans for the day but have my patriotic music playlist on Pandora, will hang my fresh new USA flag to replace the old (I keep it flying 24/7 unless the weather's horrid). I get tears already reading your post and other's comments. This is always such an emotional day for me; my grandparents came here through Ellis Island, choosing America as their new home.

May He continue to shed His grace on us all.

@Travone   Such a loss of our officers who died protected you...happens here, too. I so agree it has to stop, but the hate needs to end first.

No big plans for the weekend. Still donating and a BIG garage sale planned when it cools off as we get ready to downsize. Not sure where we'll put all our stuff from 5000 sq. ft. into a 3 bedroom apt. Decided on 3 bedrooms instead of 2 so one can be my studio and we need extra closet space/storage. The kitchens seem to be larger as well.

It's sad to me to go backwards to an apartment where we started as newlyweds. Oh well, all things are for the best. I'm trying to think of it as an adventure...all new furniture, etc. Will be staying in town since DH keeping his practice and working part time.

Sadly, sometimes these senseless killings aren't even related to hate and need to be called out as just immoral no values actions committed by despicable people.  

Thank God most Americans do have morals and values and that is what is going to keep this country strong and great. Let's celebrate this most significant holiday presented so perfectly in @Shanus op. Happy Fourth of July!
