Memorial Day is somber for me, remembering my classmates lost during the Vietnam War and all those who never physically came back. I honor all veterans we lost but grew up in the Vietnam era. The "boys" we lost really were just boys, as was the case for every war, but when one loses classmates and friends to war, it's quite sobering.

Honoring all the men and women who served our country in times of war and peace so that we can remain the land of the free. I salute them all on Memorial day and every day.

@Lucky Dog - I agree. Memorial Day isn't really a " happy" day.  I once heard someone on Q say Happy Good Friday!" Yikes!

Room for everyone here!  Memorial Day is also the start of summer, a time for families and friends to relax and have a meal, the kind of day to make good happy memories and cherish.

For others, it is a somber day, people who have served perhaps or lost people close to them in war.  A day for everyone to pause and be thankful for our mililtary.

There is room for everyone, no need to criticize, beat someone up for having a party, or think that we all experience the same and think alike.

Celebrate those who have served, celebrate the freedoms we have, and celebrate please any of you who have family and loved ones to be with on that day.
