I just bought a gratitude journal for women.

With all the craziness happening this year, I felt like I was becoming more negative than my usual self. I think writing down blessings we do have and are grateful for is a great way to start next year. I really do appreciate little things in life, like, the wonderul smell in the air and watching some amazing sunsets right out my window.

I list 10 things that Im thankful for first thing in the morning and read them out loud. Im on day 8. Thinking about my blessings do help me feel better. How about you?

Btw, know that I am grateful for all of you!  Heart

I think that is an excellent idea, @mintedrose. I know I have become much more negative in the last year.

Good on ya! Gratitude journals are life changing and when you do it and share it -- you spread an interest in gratitude. Gratitude opens the door to good things. I know what you mean about dipping your toes into the negativity pool. I'm missing the sound of my own laughter this year and that makes me cranky. I'll follow your lead and focus on gratitude as well.

So nice you found a journal that suits you and encourages.

One of my great aunts, late in life, demonstrated to me how to savor every little blessing.  Takes a pause to do it, a lesson in itself.

I think a gratitude journal is a BRILLIANT idea! My day begins, and ends with self reflection, and prayers of gratitude. 2020 has been the most challenging year of my lifetime, but I ALWAYS find something to be grateful for. Every second that my heart beats, is the most divine blessing; of which I am truly thankful.🙏😊

When I was a young girl my grandmother would tell me to always be grateful; even in the darkest of times, because those are the experiences that teach us to appreciate life's bounty. It took many moons, and much adversity for me to fully understand that nugget of wisdom, but I am forever "grateful" for it.😁

Good on ya, as they say!  My belief is that gratitude is rather like a muscle - the more you use it, the stronger it gets!

@mintedrose   I am grateful for you and most of my friends here, too. (There's one always on my bu*t or I could say all). LOL

It's wonderful to journal, especially listing positive things and keeping your mind away from negative thoughts. Great idea to add to my daily journaling, too. Ten things, huh? Tough ask.

I think it always helps to view our lives from a global perspective.  How many in the world would gladly exchange places with us.  And how many of our fellow Americans need help so badly.  Whatever we can to contribute to help them makes us more aware of how we have been blessed.

I also go back in my life, and recognize how I have been blessed in so many situations.  Even if you are dealing with illness, I feel such gratitude to have access to good health care.  And the sorrow that all Americans are not so blessed can spur a person to action.

A Gratitude journal is an awesome tool. This year has not been the most challenging year of my life and I always have been a glass half full gal LOL. I feel blessed even now being in palliative care, unable to walk more then a few feet. The most challenging times were when I was an orphan, when I was homeless and once ate out of dumpsters.....going through several fosters. When one has experienced extreme adversity such as hungar or homelessness......all the minor complaints and inconveniences of today seem a bit small. Happy New Years to you all...xxxxxxxxxx Love Stormy

@mintedrose ,

This has got to be the best post I have ever seen on the board,

not to mention the most positive!

Thank you for the compliment and the reminder to myself to identify my blessings instead of dwelling on the things that I'm missing.

Happy New Year, Friends Smiley Very Happy
