Re: Gosh I Hate When This Happens....

As someone already posted, I think when I’m awakened by a loud sound that almost makes me jump up in bed, it’s all in my head.  I get startled awake suddenly, heart pounding, look over at dh and he’s still sound asleep so he didn’t hear anything.  Maybe it’s part of a dream?

Hard to fall asleep after that happens.

@sienna123  We must have the same husband.   I get those looks too frequently LOL.

However, he does show me some respect.  When we are watching TV and he sees me literally jump up from the sofa to go exploring, he knows I definitely heard something unusal.  I am gifted with exceptional hearing, though sometimes I don't consider it a gift.

Re: Gosh I Hate When This Happens....

In summer I sleep with my bedroom windows open...I live in a rural area where the road rolls up at about 7pm....and you never see people walking on the road or around

I wake up, and smell the distinct smell of cigarette smoke! I don't smoke, so my sense of smell is sharp...

I get up, try to look outside without backlighting myself against a window, check the front and back porch, etc. If the moon is full, my yard is lit up and I look all around to see if someone could be out there.

Creepy!!

I have also awoken to the "telephone ringing". Which it has NOT!

Re: Gosh I Hate When This Happens....

I have had this happen many times over the years.  Just doze off or full asleep and a sound just kicks you awake. I had one a couple weeks ago.

I dreamed that bug were crawling on the bedroom walls and were crawling on me. I jumped out of bed, and began to scream, turned on overhead light and yelling for my husband to get up bugs were crawling all over the bedroom. It was nightmare but yet so very real. I was able to fall asleep after a bit of relaxing but that was a total nightmare.

Re: Gosh I Hate When This Happens....

I have also awoken to sounds of doorbells, sometimes it rings once and sometimes it rings twice in a row, that gets my heart a pounding.  And I've also heard  the one beep sound of a smoke alarm , very unsettling, and no one else hears it.

One time, I was in the can't move stage of sleep and I woke with the feeling that someone was standing over me ,  I was so scared, I could not move or speak, I was trying so hard and just couldn't , I did have my eyes open, but since my back was turned it didn't matter, eventually I slowly regained the ability to move and turned around  to find nothing .
