Re: Getting Ready To Dump Cable TV

We have our internet service, our old phone and cable in a package.  We don't watch enough tv to fool with streaming.  We aren't interested in movies, only watch the Wed. night network shows and maybe a Dateline or something on the weekends, church on Sundays, maybe golf.

We probably spend more time watching weather alerts live than much else.  We do live in Oklahoma. . .

@monicakm    Good luck with the husband, if he is like mine there are several he won't give up,,,which is OK, but I am losing my mind looking at different streaming services that will meet his needs.

Re: Getting Ready To Dump Cable TV

@monicakm. I only remember a couple rate increases but there could have been more. I can't remember breakfast so I can't be definite . YTTV also has Sunday Ticket for an extra fee 2here you get all the NFL games. I didn't have any trouble getting all my Eagle games without it on regular programming.

Re: Getting Ready To Dump Cable TV

I have Directv STREAM service and it comes with it's own set-top box and remote. It's for people who still want that 'cable experience' but w/o the high cost. The remote is everything. Just like I never left cable.

depending on where you live, there can be sales taxes, regulatory fees, and other digital taxes. $82.99 adds up to $100 quickly.

Re: Getting Ready To Dump Cable TV

[ Edited ]

We are going thru this now and it is driving me crazy. We have had TV/Phone/Internet bundled for well over 20 years. We went from a 9 ft satellite dish to buried cable, we were in heaven. Now trying to figure this all out is killing me. Our cable company has changed owners at least 5 or 6 times, but this new takeover (Breezeline is now owned by Cogeco) is not consumer friendly-for example I turned on a channel one morning to discover it was gone, along with over a dozen others. That was the last straw.
But I think we are almost there. . .FUBO or You Tube, Anyone have FUBO???

Picking a TV provider is the last thing to do.

Phone is ging to Verizon Mobile

Internet is up and running with Starlink.

But those fees would be added to any service purchased in that area. The base price is just that...the base...and lots of people pay just that.

I don't know where some of you are getting your YouTube TV prices. Here is a screenshot of the current price. We have it, and this is what we pay.

I quoted it directly from the website a couple days ago  The $82.99 is a limited time offer until 8/31

@smoochy you misunderstood the ad. What expires is the limited price offer for 3 months. Then it goes to $82.99.

Re: Getting Ready To Dump Cable TV

@SilleeMee   Last week I was looking at Direct TV streaming, then I noticed the set top box, do you need a box for each television?  Was it easy to set up?

Direct TV seemed to carry most of what my husband wants as far as channels.    I think but not sure about pricing, one streaming service was difficult to understand what the price was going to be...month one was a price,  month 2 and 3 were a different price and I never saw what month 4 and beyond was....not sure why they make it difficult to see their actual price per month.

thanks

@Mom2Dogs

You actually don't need the box to stream Directv. There's an app you can load. But using a Directv set top box makes it so much easier to navigate, record and view everything....just like a 'cable experience' plus you can add more streaming services to the box just like any other streaming device would do. Each TV would need it's own box if you wanted but otherwise just load the Directv STREAM app but you won't get the full experience that way. I have Set top box for each of my TVs. It's just so much better and easier that way.

Directv STREAM offers different packages with each one containing different channels. Just go to Directv dot com and look for 'SHOP' in the top banner. There you'll see "Signature Packages', four different choices and price points. There are no hidden fees. What you see there is what will appear on your bill to pay. HTH.
