GLASS HALF FULL OR HALF EMPTY

[ Edited ]

At this time of year, there are blessings, happiness, tragedies, sadness, loneliness or depression. I'm a positive person and most of the time can pull myself up and over to a good place.

How do you try to handle the trials that you face?

@Shanus It has been a really tough year for me, (company I worked for closed, health issues for me and family members, car issues etc) but I am resolving for the New Year to give myself an attitude adjustment and go for a "half full" outlook. I usually am a positive person, but this year just threw me for a loop. Time to get rid of the negativity and the pity parties.

I need to keep busy, remember the good things that I do have in life and keep praying for positive outcomes.

I keep things in perspective and just put one foot in front of the other.

i allow myself to feel sorry for myself - for about 1 minute - then switch to building a plan to return to the light.  it usually involves doing something for someone else - or for a cause - something to pull myself out of myself so i can regain perspective. when i can see the Big Picture, i usually see how very very lucky i am.

@FlyersGirl   It does sound like a lot to handle. You seem to be headed on the right path. Best of luck.

As my father used to say "This too shall pass."  In the meantime, prayer and a couple of glasses of wine--LOL!!!

If I thought this life was as good as it gets -- I'd be discouraged more often. But I have hope of a peaceful, eternal resolution. Many Americans live a life of privilege. I remind myself of that daily when I complain about troubles. I also ask, what am I supposed to learn from this situation?

I do not have time for self pity.  It is not an attractive trait.

Early this month I got the news that one of my two types of cancer is back and this is not good news of course.  But spoil the holiday?

Just savor old memories and move on.  No one is going to come back to life.
