My good friend has a granddaughter moving to Ft Wayne, Indiana in the near future.  

I shop in Ft Wayne and know my way around some areas but not the area she is looking at...WEST WIND APARTMENTS, Point West Drive in Ft Wayne.  

Is anyone familiar with the area and would you consider it a safe area for a young, single woman?   I did tell her she should probably work with a realtor.

@Mom2Dogs.  L9cal police departments will give information on crime in geographical areas and specific apartment complexes.

I've been to Ft Wayne a few times but no real knowledge of the different neighborhoods.

@Kachina624  has an idea in contacting a Community Policing officer. If they have an officer dedicated to an apt complex, that is a BAD sign.

When I was looking for home in my current location one of my first stops was the local police department then the Sheriff's department.

I explained that I was looking for a home in an area that would be safe for myself and my elderly mother who was in the early stages of dementia.

They advised me about areas where they had a lot of calls, areas to avoid and even went so far as to suggest locations that would be most suitable.

One thread on Reddit suggested they're overpriced for what you get and there seemed to be mixed reviews on the location and safety factor.

Thanks all....    Going to Reddit never occured to me nor did asking the local police.  I will pass along the info.
