Do you and your DH agree on brands?  Any item that one can't budge on?

We agree on several items, but mostly, not.  He will often bring in a "store brand" that I really have been dissasisfied with and think it's fine.

I like Charmin  He likes store tissue

I like Bounty Napkins  He brings in store

I prefer name brand canned items, he'll bring in store with misshaped pieces, and pieces of tomato skin, for instance.

There are brand names we agree on like soy sauce, salad dressing.

We agree on Heinz catsup and Dukes mayo.

I always had to buy Skippy peanut butter.  We were both children of the 60's.  Those commercials were burnt into my/our brain.

Oscar Meyer hot dogs and on and on.  With my daughter's to this day they will only eat Campbell's pork and beans.

It never mattered to me what brand peanut butter.  I only always buy name brand everything.

I just like name brand everything.  But what I want has to be exactly the name brand and no substitutes.

Right now I'm binging on the vanilla Oreo thin cookies.  It must be the name brand.  I have it with milk every night.

I buy Tootsie Roll pops (orange and cherry) by huge packages (60 count) from Amazon.  Right now I'm in a battle with the candy company from Amazon and their orange pops.  They don't taste orange enough.

Weird, you betcha'.

Re: Favorite Brands

[ Edited ]

My SO will buy store brand stuff which I won't use and have proven to him most are inferior but he is more than welcome to use or eat on his own whatever he wants.  He will buy store brand or knock off cereals but I buy brand names for my cereal.  If he cooks for himself he can use whatever he wants but if I cook for both of us I use what I prefer.   He will buy store brand cheap peanut butter but I will only eat Smuckers natural peanut butter with only peanuts as ingredients.  There is nothing that is that important to him so what we use the same like toilet paper and paper towels is my choice.  We each buy our own soaps, toothpaste and things like that.  He will buy a huge bottle of store brand dish detergent which I won't use but when he does the dishes he can use whatever he wants.  We each do our own laundry and he used to buy cheap but finally realized that the good stuff is way better.

Some brands I won't budge.

Smuckers peanut butter, jams and preserves.

Hershey's Cocoa

Bounty Select-A-Size paper towels

Perdue chicken

Tide laundry detergent

Weimer's Stainless Steel cleaner and polish

Duncan Hines cake mixes

Hungry Jack instant mashed potatoes

Brummel and Brown low calorie margarine with yogurt

F A G E Greek yogurt

General Mills Wheaties cereal

There are others, but that's a good start.

LOL No not at all ECBG because I do all the grocery shopping so that takes care of the problem.  Never trust a man turned loose in a grocery store lol; just kidding.

He only likes Jif peanut butter, doesn't matter to me.

We both like Hellman's mayo and definitely Heinz ketchup.

I will try some store brands, but usually go for name brands

95% of the time.

I prefer name brands, although I've learned (from hubby) that I really do like Aldi's canned goods and think they're just as good. He's more thrifty than I am and would buy larger quantities if the price is right - the problem is that we don't have a big house with a lot of kitchen storage. With most items, we buy name brands, but there are some things that I've found that store brands are pretty much the same. It depends on the product. In my first marriage I only shopped at a higher-end grocery store.....I've learned that I don't have to shop there every week for everyday brand name items like TP, cleaning items, laundry detergent, pet food, etc that is usually less at the discount stores. I think I've changed his thinking more than he's changed mine!

My husband and I are in total agreement on:

chicken noodle and tomato soup must be Campbell’s, cream of chicken can be store brand.  Pork and beans must be VanCamps.

Dill and bread and butter pickles, mustard, chili sauce, grape and strawberry jam can be store brand.

Ketchup has to be Heinz.  Only Jiff or Peter Pan peanut butter, on name brand bread.

Pancake syrup must be Mrs Butterworths or Log Cabin.  Tuna must be Starkist in the pouch.

I stick to Martha White cornmeal, Gold Medal flour, and Duncan Heinz cake mixes.

Only Hellman’s mayo and Hidden Valley ranch dressing, Luzianne tea bags, Maxwell House coffee.
