I was not into maudlin sentimentality when my younger son was married ( family issues unrelated to the marriage) but I was thrilled that he and his wife were marrying each other, so he and I did a quick step to "Happy". 

It it was fun, conveyed the feelings I had for the newlyweds, and everyone there got, and enjoyed, the point.

I can't even begin to express how much I thank you all for your replies.  I have been back to this thread a couple of times, and end up clicking the links so many have provided, and end up listening to the music available for hours!  Then, I don't get back here. LOL

I'm supposed to choose the song, but it's not easy.  If I suggest one, I get a no, because my dd or whoever will cry, etc.  Then there are others that are a little harder to dance to, etc.

So far, I'm rooting for the original Daddy's Little Girl and It's a Wonderful World. 

I can find lots of beautiful songs to dance to, but some of them, my dh doesn't want to dance to with his dd at her wedding.  For example, I really like "The Wonder of You".

Oh yes, "I Hope You Dance"!  That was the theme song we had when we took our youngest dd away for college.  We hugged her goodbye to that phrase.

My dad and I danced to "My Daughter " by Buddy Hacket. He wrote the song for his daughter. I am going to see if I still have the book where the words and music are. 

All of of us were in tears at our dance my dad and I included.
