We all have true friends and then acquaintances.

I've noticed with both groups I can ask a question and rarely get an answer.  An example might be "Did they reduce your hours?"  "Did the deposit on that date to your account?".

What's going on or are my "southen" manners showing?  When asked a question, a responce is called for.

Thanks!

Facebook is open and anyone that you are friends with can see the post. If you want to know something directly regarding someone you need to do it in a private message on facebook to them. A lot of people don't want any of their persoanal stuff being able to be seen by everyone. Also it can take a while for someone to see your post. Like myself who leaves the computer on all the time and it looks like I am on there even though I am not in front of my computer so it might be a couple of days before I actually see a post.

my guess is is that the questions are too personal to answer on a thread that many can see. just because they are on facebook doesnt necessarily mean that they want to answer personal/private/invasive questions......no matter how much they initially choose to share.

These type of questions are better suited to a phone call or an email. Too personal for FB, although many people put lots of personal information on FB.

Send someone an IM on facebook instead of posting the question out there.

You should email instead of asking such questions in a public Facebook format. I wouldn't answer, either. You can't toss out questions on Facebook and then complain about getting no replies.

I agree, the questions may be too personal.  I don't post about work on Facebook, unless it's very generic.

I instant messaged these and the last was a work related question.  None of these would be remotely embarrasing.  I would never do that to anyone.

@ECBG

I wasn't thinking it would embarrass the ladies.  I was thinking they didn't want to post the answer about hours for everyone to read.  Instant message is different though and I would have answered differently.  I have an acquaintance at work that instant messages me about trying some skin care line she's selling.  I don't want to buy it.  I answered her once and told her I used something else and if I wanted to switch, I'd let her know.  She still sends me a message once a month and I ignore it.

I think I'd ask, did you get my instant message last week?  I was having computer issues and wasn't sure if it went.  Or something like that.
