No, you are not the only one.  Trying to open Benadryl tablets is a real pain.  Why does everything have to be packaged so that it's difficult to open??  Usually wind up taking a scissors or knife to many things.  So unnecesary, IMO!

You reminded me, @kaydee50 , every month I go nuts trying to open Brody's Sympatica!

Not since the 20th century.  It pays to be lazy........

For boxes....Use a cardboard cutter old school or the newer/professional version

For jars...Use an electric jar opener

For pill bottles....Use a pill bottle opener.  You can get those FREE from any Senior center.

For rx bottles....Tell the pharmacist you want a

NON-CHILD PROOF top.

Save the tops incase the pharmacist forgets or neglects to read your file/account.

For easy access use a Playtex glove which now are dotted ribbed to open anything easily.

Yes, I've got the whole medley of things too.  The tiny bottles. e.g. hot sauce, which have a tiny neck always have a silver 'paper' over the opening that must be peeled off.  Only problem is there's no tab to pull that tiny thing off and it's like glued onto the bottle.

Don't get me started on blister packs of pills!  They are practically glued in place.  I usually have to use scissors to carefully cut around part of the pill in order to free it.

Many good suggestions. I use a (cheap) serrated edge knife to open Amazon packages. It zips right through the tape with little effort.

@Bookplate

I hear ya.  I'm a psychiatric nurse and we have to get the medication out of the (adultproof) package and into the patient as quickly as possible.

Many times our patients are suspicious and demand to see the pill in its packaging before they'll agree to take it.  We can't have a sharp tool like scissors anywhere near a patient so we are put in the awkward position of freeing pills from the packaging in front of the patient.  Sometimes it's comical, sometimes it's no laughing matter.

@eddyandme  Use a toothpick & poke in the middle of the silver paper.  From the middle you can now peel off all around the opening.

You can also use the sharpest thinner point on a pair of small scissors, a small knife w/a pointed tip to puncture the cellophane/silver paper.

I have never had strong finger nails......so you can understand why this is the "most used" item in my kitchen!

Chestnut Knife – Rockin' M Farms

Not sharp enough to be a box cutter but earns its keep!

I've never seen this tool before, what is it called?  I'd like to order one.

An adjustable wrench in your junk drawer is so handy. Good for opening pull tops on cat food cans and great for juice and tonic bottles. Breaking that seal with arthritic fingers is impossible. I use an exacto knife on boxes.

it isn't just me, my husband curses a storm when I hand them over to him.   My husband is nearly 80 and bench presses a load, still rides his huge motorcycle cross country, has legs and arms you could bounce nickels off.....and he has trouble. We have handy scissors, a xacto knife, and mny implements. But some pkgs are too much. It's many of the packages, not boxes!!!  Even Nordies hs some boxes they seal with this , string woven in  heavy duty tape, that a xacto won't cut through.  Opening some cheeses, and resealable packages can be near impossible. My husband has had to take a few things out in garage. Lord knows WhT HE DOES WITH THEM...LOL.  he comes back in and is mad, quit ordering from them he says. Lol
