@Boehm Collector You should be putting booties on their paws when you are walking them. Otherwise, they are subject to injury. That is common knowledge among dog owners..Very sad for your dog. Have you tried walking on ice barefoot??
@elated I would love to put booties on him. But he won't wear them. I even tried wrapping them with ace bandages and putting socks on him... He was having none of it.

@elated ... the more I think about your post the ANGRIER I am getting! How dare you?!?!?! I take good care of my dog. Do you think I enjoy watching him suffer?!?!?! If he refuses to have anything on this paws there is nothing I can do about it. I know lots of people whose dogs don't want anything on their paws. Many won't even wear coats.

Untill it warms up, you could have a dish of room temperature water to rinse your pups feet. The bleeding could be caused by sharp ice or salt. Either way, the water would soothe their paws.
Also there are paw balms (Musher's) or even good old vaseline that you could use for protection.
Dogs usually like to have their feet washed. My dog gets his feet washed everyday. So many people down here use RoundUp and other pesticides. He is used to it now.

@Boehm Collector Here is a suggestion to get your dog to wear boots. To help your dog wear boots , use positive reinforcement, gradual exposure, and ensure a proper fit to make the experience comfortable and enjoyable for your pet. I care about animals and how to avoid any injury. You can google the information to help train your dog.
