If you are 65 and older (or  if under 65  and have an underlying condition)  the Capvaxive pneumonia vaccine is more protective  then  the Previnar 20 vaccine .   Also the RSV vaccine - as of now - is a one time dose for life .         The TDap vaccine is  also very important - not only because it has tetanus in it ( and also diphtheria) but  also whooping cough  (pertussis) - which it you have a child , grandchild under 6 months old they are not yet protected from whooping cough and  also was circulating last year in all ages  and  this year -  it is given every  10 years - you might want to  ask your health care professional about.       (Sorry  to hear that you had a reaction to the Covid vaccine - nothing is worse then having a bad reaction to something)

Re: FLU SHOT TIME......

[ Edited ]

i know we all have hashed and rehashed this subject.  This thread has been extremely informative and interesting. I realize the flu vaccine is not going guarantee a person from not getting the flu. It just can't.   Too many variables.   But I would like to reinforce the thought that it can help those with compromised medical conditions, auto immune diseases, etc from getting worse case scenarios of the flu. You may get the flu, but not most likely not as life threatening as it could have been. Unless you have reactions to vax, or are not a candidate for the vax..it can also perhaps save someone else the misery of the flu if  become ill and spread  the virus.  There is huhe percentage of real consequences in thatb. I would like to also add, please if you do become ill, please stay home, take care of yourself and reduce the risk of someone else catching it from you. That's no fun!

Since there are much better ways to staying well, I for one will not be guilt tripped into having manmade concoctions injected into my body especially when, as you point out, they're effectiveness is highly questionable.

Every body is different so a 'one size fits all' approach with everyone getting the same shot lacks common sense and it's quite something to see so many go along with the nonsense.

@shoekitty

Yes, to RA.

I also have the vasovagal response and have fainted after shots.

The solution is to have as few shots as necessary ...  and when I do get them ...  it's always in the butt cheek in my PCP's office.

If I pass out in the doctor's office, I know someone will attend to me. lol   Woman LOL

Having a shot in the arm makes me very woozy.

It's always something, isn't it?

@Tinkrbl44  it has always been my observation people with Autoimmune diseases seems to have trouble with medications and shots.  I think knowing the issue, and reducing risks by elimination is the best way. Yes, sometimes I feel like Roseanne Roseanna Danna, "ITS ALWAYS SOMETHING"!

@ThinkingOutLoud I don't like that you feel guilt tripped.  We all come from different places of why the vaccine or why not.

One year I got the vaccine and my husband didn't. He gave me Covid.  Yes...even though I had the covid vaccine.  The one thing I really remember is his covid was much worse than mine.  He felt really bad that he gave it to me....so bad that he gets the vaccine now. Some of us have other reasons due to our own circumstances other then just science. Just hope you know that many of us don't judge you and, by the way....I still love my husband!!! Always have and always will whatever he decides on this.

I have always been under the impression Covid vax does not prevent the spread, it just helps to get a lesser case of it.
