I am from the GenX generation. I will get my flu vaccine in about three weeks. I have gotten one for about 25 years. When my son was a toddler if he got sick I got sick. The place I worked started giving a free flu vaccine because it was cheaper than paying sick time to employees. Even though I thought that was a bit heartless I got one. That winter I was seldom sick even when my son was sick.
My mom didn't take me for my childhood shots because she was embarrassed by having so many children. I am one of nine. I didn't know this until I went to college and had to get my "childhood shots" because there was no record. The only record I could find was one of my mom lying. I had the measles, the mumps, and rubella. I knew when I was 18 my future child would get vaccinated and he did. I believe in science.

I have never had a flu shot, and I do not remember ever having the flu, so I will pass on a shot.

My daughter's FIL got COVID during the first big round here, more to the end of that. H fought so much to live, as it affected his lungs, and he lived on oxygen 24 hours a day. Yes, he did have an oxygen tank with him at all times. He lived like that for about a good year and a half. He lived alone, and my DD and SIL made sure he was well taken care of.
It is still around, scary as this is, but with little publicity. We do know a few people who passed during thr last time. And sadly some who passed of other things who could not have a funeral due to fear of crowds.
DH are planning for this winter. He always goes to UConn basketball, has forever, but will not go this year. I will only leave the house for medical appointments. Still in large family
home, stuff to do, will miss seeing our whole family for the winter. Even with the vax, a very sneaky disease.
My DD is a scientist, works with some international people. She got it right after the holidays in the first year. They hardly knew what it was. She stayed home, and her test was sent to California for testing. It was about a 10 day wait.
Right at the very beginning....doubtless some folks brought it into the lab, not knowing anything was wrong or would be wrong. They had gone home for the holidays.

I used to avoid getting the flu shot because I haven't gotten the flu since I was a kid. But my pcp told me that flu can lead to pneumonia in older people.
Now, I get the vaccine every year.

You are so correct, each person needs to thoroughly research the covid vaccine and learn what is in each shot; many people have been affected by this vaccine and in a bad way.

I got very mild reactions, mainly achy arms where the shot were located.
However, this past Monday (9/22/25) I decided get the Flu, Covid and RSV vaccines all at once. I've gotten flu shots for years and got the flu/covid combo last year. I wanted the RSV for the past two years but the first year they were out of it ( I wanted COVID/RSV only), the second they refused to do three at once, and when I tried to reschedule the RSV in both cases, I kept being rejected for various reasons until I gave up.
I tried again this year and lo and behold, they had the vaccine and were willing to do all three at once. However, the woman giving the shots asked me several times if I really wanted all three. I told her this story, so she did it. She gave me the standard post-vaccination advice, but emphasized that I might feel it more and to be aware.
Well, by that evening my arms ACHED like mad and the next day I awoke queasy and nauseous with a screaming headache. I got through the day and I'm fine now, but the reaction was more intense than I expected. I probably won't do 3 at a time again.
FYI, the past two years were at CVS, the other was at Duane Reade (Walgreen's outside NYC).

My 2nd Covid made me a bit sick. Have not had any boosters. Same with my shingles vaccine. I'm due for my flu shot which doesn't bother me.

I didn't know people are still getting COVID shots.
