Naw certainy don't do covid anymore and the past few years we've skipped getting the flu shot. I'm not comfortable putting all these unknown drugs in me.

Good to see so many of us trusting the science and medicine. Gives me hope for the return to normalcy after a period of a concerted effort to kill off poor, old and sick people as fast as possible.Thank the universe the majority of americans are not that dumb.

@Shanus I hope you told your doctor about the reactions you get and see if he/she thinks you should continue with these shots.
i know three people who were never sick throughout their life and after taking 2 Covid shots and a booster had major health issues. Will never know if Covid shots caused this but all should discuss with their doctor.

No, I stopped getting jabbed and then also stopped getting sick.
Imagine my surprise to read a flu insert that said "contraindicated for the elderly" because the elderly do not make the proper immune system responses, yet, who are these shots marketed to?
Imagine again my surprise to read the Pfi3zer documents to find 1291 "adverse side effects" of the covid shots, including heart issues, neurological issues, cancers and respiratory issues.
Yet again was I surprised to read the insert for MMR which stated to literally stay away from unvaccinated people for 28 days because the shot is live and will shed.
So, no, I don't get those things injected into my body anymore because I actually read the inserts.

@sunsetbeach wrote:Dh and I got our new Covid shots a week ago. Previously, i received Pfizer and had a similar experience each time, feeling crappy for about a day and by 8 pm the following night was fine. None of the shots ever seem to effect DH, even tho he is older than me. This time we got Moderna because it was what was currently available here and it supposedly protected people over 65 better.
Needless to say it was a whole different thing for me. The side effects were 50 times worse than previous. It took about 4 days before I felt normal. I did have every side effect listed from fever, to headace to muscle pain, to nausea, etc. I didn't take anything to curb the side effects because I wanted the strongest possible immune response. All that being said, I am thankful the shots are available and I'm glad I got the Moderna this time.
I am waiting til the first of October to get my senior flu shot. I've had the flu shot for at least 20 years and have never had the flu. I had a super mild case of covid year before last and took Paxlovid and was fine.
@sunsetbeach -- It's interesting in how we are all so different. I had the Moderna shot and had no side effects at all, not even a sore arm. My daughter gets it and she feels sluggish for about a day.

I have had site reaction to every type of shot I've received in my lifetime; swelling, redness and hot to the touch for 3-5 days along with a blah feeling. No way will I ever take 2 shots at one time.

I got the flu shot yesterday and didn't have any reaction.

I got the senior flu shot & had to go to Urgent Care, at first I thought the weakness & pain would pass but soon I knew I was in serous trouble...after treatment I was advised not to have another flu shot & after that terrible experience I haven't had any covid shots. Hope the shots go well for you @Shanus Take care everyone.

My pulmonologist wants me to wait a month before I get my COVID shot, likely impacted by my lung issues.
Will add I had my COVID shot last year, but did have COVID despite being very careful. Yes, the shot does not guarantee you will never get it, only that it will be less severe. It surely was not fun, but I was thankful that at age 80 I was able to recover at home. My daughter's FIL decided not to get the shot, got COVID, was hospitalized, and suffered terribly after his lungs were affected. He fought hard, but he lost his battle.
One of the nicest people you could meet - still very missed.
@PamfromCT , I'm so sorry about your daughter's FIL. Did that happen during the original outbreak of covid or this latest round of covid, which is evidently rampant here in CA?

I haven't posted in a long time but this issue brought me back. I am a 78 year old great grandmother who has had two curable (thank goodness) cancers, lifelong asthma, and two knee replacements. I work out regularly and try to eat right. After reading the scientific evidence, I concluded that I could have four vaccinations at one time...flu, Covid, pneumonia, and dpt. I'd never had a reaction to any of them before so I went with it. I had no problems and I was relieved that I didn't have to wait at the pharmacy forever to get my scheduled shots at four different times.
If I had to, however, I would have gone four times. It boggles my mind that people would not provide the protection against diseases that killed our ancestors. I remember my grandmother telling me her sister died of diphtheria. I remember the days before the polio vaccine. You cannot imagine the devastation of that disease and the fear parents had that their children would be stricken. There's a reason why longevity in 1900 was about half of what it is today. It's called medical science.
