I went to DT today to get the set of 3 stacking pumpkins. I was thinking they were foam so would be easy to paint for Halloween. They are plastic so I didn't get them. I wasn't sure how well paint would stick to the plastic.

There are red stickers on most things. That means those items are now $1.50 instead of $1.25. They had some cute little cardboard buckets for Halloween treats.

@Sakuya

I've painted the plastic 35# cat litter buckets. If you read the paint label it will list plastic if the paint will work on it.

@Shelbelle - I agree.  Can't beat their prices for cards.

Ran in to get birthday balloon.  Sign said "from $1.50".  Those on wall to far right were marked $3, so I assumed the ones picked to left would be much less.  Discovered it was $2.  I just like prices to be clear.  I imagine the buying for these stores is a nightmare.  I enjoy getting cards, partyware, toiletries and foil pans for church there but prices have gone up.  I avoid food items.

I understand your point, but retailers have to adapt to changing markets.

They can't change the name of the store every time they make changes to what they sell.  If they now sell things for $5 or whatever, I think most people are just glad they are still in business.

It's nice to have a dollar-type store that's there when you need it.

I hope they're all showing a profit these days.

My sister-in-law just told me she goes there every month to buy all the birthday/special occasion cards for the month. So, guess I will be going there for my cards. One card recently cost me $6.99 at my grocery store, which would cover a months supply at DT.

um no, none of my suggestions are specific.  which is the point.

honesty seems to be a lost expectation

I don't think it has anything to do with "honesty".

You can't expect them to call it something like a NOTHING IS OVER A DOLLAR store ....  it's 2025 and prices are up on everything.

I can't think of any other successful retailer whose name is about how much everything costs.   Can you?
