I have never been in a DT but awhile ago we got a Five and Under store.  Haven't been in there yet but that price sounds more realistic.

We have a Dollar Bargain about a mile from the house so I pop in there fairliy often, usuallu for gift bags and tissue paper. I used to stock up with Dawn all the time.

They're popping up in westchester.  There are 2 in Yonkers, 1 in New Rochelle on North Ave, 1 on Mamaroneck Ave in White Plains and one in Pelham that I know of.   They've opened very quickly.   

My issue is I don't always have patience to shop there.

The Dollar store where I shop has prices that start at $1.25 and go to $7.00. I usually buy fall garlands at the dollar store to clip onto my patio umbrella. Last year they were $1.25. This year they are $3.00.  Since I need 6 garlands and they barely last on season I decided not to spend the $18.

It seems like they are expanding a little to include some higher end (Dollar Tree higher end) stuff.

The stuff that's priced higher does seem to be worth the higher prices in my opinion. 

I recently bought 2 stacking (stacks of 3 pumpkins) from there that are great and I think they were $7.00, which was a good price, to me. They are pretty big, plastic and they snap apart for storage. I may paint them, not sure.

@GingerHead   You know looking at the set of white pumpkins you could make a ghost out of it on Halloween or even better put a scarp, and too hat or beanie  on it. Putty a couple large black buttons for eyes on him for smpnkwman lol

Last time I was in ours I was told say goodbye soon to $1.25. Changes coming
soon to raise everything to $1.50. Don't shop there often. Go in once in a while.

The dollar stores have always had some $5 items, but most things were $1 or 2 for $1.  Now most things are $1.25.  Still a bargain.

I purchase cards for birthdays, sympathy, any and all occasions.  I try to get the 2 for $1.  Yes, the cards are still $1.

I also buy paper goods like wrapping paper, tissue paper, bows and bags.

Their small waste paper baskets, plastic refrigerator bins and other containers for keeping things organized are great.

I like to buy holiday items there like cello bags for cookies or my chocolate covered pretzels or decorative cans.

I like their envelopes, pens, pencils, glue and other stationary supplies too.

They are always busy and I see people buying full carts of stuff....even food items.

I don't think they will be going out of business anytime soon.

I used to go in for paper products for special occasions or coffee/dessert products. I noticed the sizes are scaled down in size and weight to meet the lower price on many items. I can only find Spic and Span cleaner there. Don't go in often.

Dr. Dray included these stores in her cosmetic finds. Family Dollar did go out of business in my town. Dollar tree remains and seem to remain in small communities.

I like the small sizes of food products. We don't use Miracle-Whip, only mayonnaise, except in one pasta recipe. The tree has a small container of it that's the exact amount needed for it. 

The tree also sells bleach tablets in a plastic tube, regular or linen scented. No concern about splashing onto one's attire.
