Re: Do You Put Oysters in Your Dressing?

maryland chiming in......

i absolutely hate oysters and i grew up in the chesapeake bay area.

oyster dressing/stuffing is a thing for sure in our area.

also popular are raw oysters, fried oysters, oysters rockefeller, oyster stew, oyster shooters.

i make the dressing (it is NEVER stuffing because it isnt stuffed into the bird and it is made in a separate pan.) the same way that my  mom did, my grandmother did, and my great grandmother did.

my dressing has good bread cubes (brioche and seasoned), lots of onions, celery, chicken broth, salt, pepper, butter, eggs, and LOTS of juices from the roasted turkey and from the broth of the simmering turkey innards.

last night i just ate dressing and mashed potatoes for my dinner. pure comfort food at its best!

Re: Do You Put Oysters in Your Dressing?

I don't but my mom did years ago.  She would only put it on one half and my mom, dad and aunt were the only ones who ate from that end. All three are gone now and the rest of the family, besides me, won't eat it anyway so we haven't had dressing for years.

No Way !   Just looking at oysters makes me feel sick 🤢

I make a chestnut stuffing for in the bird and a sausage dressing as well .
