Wow, you have really got it going on from an appliance perspective.  I will count my blessings that I only have to deal with the washer.

I did hear some unfamiliar noises coming from my furnace this season.  I am trying to get one more year out of it, the poor thing has to be 25 years old.  It's working fine, I just hear a couple of bang/thumps when the fan/blower stops.  When I was talking to the appliance service plan rep, I said don't be surprised if you get another call about the furnace.

I checked online and there was a suggestion that maybe my air filter was in crooked.  So, I checked that first thing last night.  There is only one was to insert the air filter so I couldn't have done it wrong if I wanted to.  That said, I pulled it out and re-inserted it.  It's clean, I just changed it out a month or so ago.

This is what it looks like:

@Bird mama  It's probably due to the age of the heater.  I make more noises than I did when I was young, lol.  Something strange, and miraculous, happened this week.  Our bedroom bathroom has never had hot water that we didn't have to wait forever to get, so always had to wash my hands in the middle of the night with freezing cold water, but this week, instant hot water.  I was told by a plumber that I would have to have a pump installed in the storeroom where all of the pipes are, at a cost of over $700.00.  I have no clue as to why the water is now hot instantly, maybe there is a hot water fairy in the pipes.Smiley Happy

@mousiegirl

I can handle the old Lennox Whisperheat not whispering much anymore.  I just worry about cracked heat exchangers, lol.

As far as the immediate hot water in the bathroom faucets, girl, just go with it as long as it lasts and don't question it.

I've asked the Christmas Decor fairies to take care of the inside of the house at least three times this week.  They left me a wee note that said, Nice try, we're on strike, rofl.

I mentioned this at the Back Fence but wanted to mention it here as Jody from NC was one of the people who started this thread. Jody's husband Tom, just passed away - he was a marvelous and exceptionally bright person. He took so much time with Tessa when we visited them in NC - he taught that little girl how to shovel for the horses - LOL.  He was a Vet and also marvelous scientist and taught at Wake Forest  College. Tom will be missed - we count ourselves so very fortunate that we got to know he and Jody. Jody, our thoughts go out to you and your marvelous family!!!

Winifred......  Thank you so much for posting about Jody loosing her beloved Tom.  If you get to speak to Jody please extend my deepest sympathy.  He will be greatly missed!

Winifred I am sorry for the lose of your friend.  I know you have great memories of Tom.

Mousie,  Your pups are precious. Really they are so  cute and fluffy looking.   Sleeping like little angels.   Which is the girl and which is Remy?.

I have often tried to picture them from your descriptions.  Thanks for sharing their photo.   Have a good weekend and don't work to hard on the decorations.   Your house sounds beautiful.

I decorated many rooms in the house long ago, but only one tree for the most part. .   My sister in law's older sister has 6 or 7 trees in her house.  With just my brother and I and usually me leaving on Christmas day most of the time,  I don't even put one up.  I do put a few ornaments on the Norfork pine.  It's a living house plant,  very old, over 30 years.    I miss all of that fun and WORK, but time changes customs and things.

A head scratch and hug for the pups.

Re: December 2015 Bird's Nest - Where Bells are Ringing

Mousie, I agree, those pups are just adorable.

Luvs, glad you read the message about Tom.

Am so sorry many of you were not posting here when Jody was a big part of this thread - she started it. A super absolutely beautiful hilariously funny lady. Talented from the get go in writing and drawing. I always have wished I had just one ounce of her talent. when Bailey was still with us Jody made me a beautiful set of note pads with his likeness on them - just gorgeous. Bailey was my lovable rescued Cocker.

It is freezing this morning - again. It had warmed up a bit, several days got into the 80s. Do not think it will hit anywhere near that today. sigh.

Davey has Saturday school, again and I am also picking up a friend nearby who lives with his Grandma also. His Dad lives there too - so many people out here struggling to survive. Grandma's truck will not run and they have no $$ to get it going, or even find out if it is possible. Dad has a truck but he works in Redlands. They have kinfolk here who step in to help but each family - like all families - have things to take care of also. Not a problem in me picking the young man up - have to go out of my way just a little bit - who knows, if Grandma gets her truck running, I may need her to pick up Davey somewhere along the line.

Noticed the feeders were empby again - boy howdy those chirpers are eating well. LOL.

Have a great day and stay warm.
