I though the eider was interesting looking too. In my quest to not repeat a bird in my posts I have come across some really interesting ones.

Hi there Birding Friends - another weekend is upon us. I have Monday off as a vacation day. I have an appointment (8-noon) with an appliance repair person for my washer. I participate in the appliance repair plan offered by my gas company so I made a call yesterday and mentioned my washer leaking from the bottom intermittently. I think it's a hose or a pump. When I told the woman on the phone that I am a wash woman and that my washer and dryer are my favorite appliances - she said, oh my I can get someone there on Monday, lol.
Of course, this morning that razzin frazzin washer didn't leak when I did a load (rolling my eyes). I'll play with different size and different weight (towels) loads and see if I can force the leak so I can help the tech pinpoint the issue.
I gotta tell you, I always seem to have a laundry crisis around the holidays. My dryer broke the day before my husband died right after New Year. My timer went out the dryer a few years later right around Christmas. I ordered the part that time and fixed it myself.
My repair plan pays for itself each year. I've been a member just over two years and have had the drum belt replaced on the dryer, some thing that triggers the dryer to generate heat and now this washer. Calling a Kenmore guy would have cost me so much more for these things.
I am determined to get my exterior Christmas lights up this weekend and to decorate for the holidays. I don't go overboard but I need a little twinkle and some holiday cheer this time of year. It just looks so cheerful.

Hi everyone! The last few days havn't been as cold, but the week prior it was freezing here.
I can relate to your repair issues, birdmama. Yesterday, the pest control company came over, since I am under contract, to lay some rat bait. This was very traumatic for me several years ago when they first came over due to signs of rats in the garage. They are all over this woodsy area, so have to keep them in check, unfortunately. When I had cats, no problem, they took care of the issue, even my Husky/Lab eliminated an entire family one evening in the back yard as I watched in horror, dumb me.
My garbage disposal, installed only last year, has been leaking for some time apparently due to improper installation and DH says it needs resetting and that he couldn't do it, though he can take care of a lot around here, so someone is coming Monday.
My girl pup has an itching problem, seems to be a issue with some terriers, that I havn't been able to solve, so will have to take her in to the Vet soon for pills. I don't want to do this, but I have tried everything and not only is it horrible for her to be scratching all of the time, it is for us also.
I called the shade company to ask when they will be installed and the guy said he left a message last week, never got it, but they will come on Tuesday.
My two year old freezer and frig have been leaking from the bottom since they was installed, two freezer drawers are frozen shut, and several other issues, but I have a feeling I will have to empty them for repair, but I will call soon to find out what would be involved and then deal with it next year.
I have my kitchen tree almost finished, then I will decorate the hutch. I may get the green tree today as it may rain on Sunday so don'twant to go to a tree lot then, though it will be plenty wet there today. I can work on it Sunday through Tuesday, then I want to attack the family room which I began but had to stop until the shades are installed.
Once the green tree is decorated, I will wrap DD's presents and put them under the tree. It is so much easier now, as when she was little, I had to keep everything in a room, then wrap at the last minute, practically, then lug everything to the tree Christmas Eve after she was asleep. It was much more fun then, but easier now. ![]()
I made a vat of marinara meat sauce last night. I was able to freeze seven containers, seven meals sometimes more if there is enough leftover pasta, and last night's dinner. So now I have three types of pasta sauce, green soup, and clam chowder,in the freezer. The other night, I told DD it was green soup for dinner and she groaned and moaned, but as she was eating it, she gave me the thumbs up, lol. After I put crusty bread in the bottom of the bowl, add the soup, add extra virgin olive oil, cracked black pepper, and grated parmigiana cheese, it is the yummiest soup ever, really a ribollita by then.
I hope everyone has a great weekend. I will be working around here, as usual, also going through the yearly ritual of directing DH as he is placing lights on the green tree, and having him move it around until it is just right. ![]()

Interesting legend about the tree. Here's my take on it - if I buy an artificial tree and leave the tree in the forest, I may not have a year of happiness but the birds will have somewhere to live, rofl.

@Bird mama I like that, birdmama.
The picture is a canvas I bought this year and because the snowman's face is so sweet and adorable, I will leave it out, and not pack it away.

I like to decorate with Snowmen too because I can leave them out for the entire winter :-)

Wow, you have really got it going on from an appliance perspective. I will count my blessings that I only have to deal with the washer.
I did hear some unfamiliar noises coming from my furnace this season. I am trying to get one more year out of it, the poor thing has to be 25 years old. It's working fine, I just hear a couple of bang/thumps when the fan/blower stops. When I was talking to the appliance service plan rep, I said don't be surprised if you get another call about the furnace.
I checked online and there was a suggestion that maybe my air filter was in crooked. So, I checked that first thing last night. There is only one was to insert the air filter so I couldn't have done it wrong if I wanted to. That said, I pulled it out and re-inserted it. It's clean, I just changed it out a month or so ago.
This is what it looks like:
