Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Hello my friends! Hope your day is going well.  Linus met the new man who bought our house today, he's alone, and older.  His family was there and they were wondering about something there that Linus showed them how to do, so they were so thankful he came there.  I so hope that Philip will love it there! Very nice neighbors there.  Had a friend over for lunch today, it was nice, made some good soup!

Do not run ahead of the Lord, but walk with Him, pray for His guidance
and listen to His answers. Lord, let me put Your will first in my life.

"Be still and know that I am God."  ~Psalm 46:10

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I can relax and not get tense.  I need not fear, because everything
will work out in the end.  I can learn soul-balance and poise in a
vacillating, changing world.  I can claim God's power and use it
because if I do not use it, it can be withdrawn.  As long as I get
back to God and replenish my strength after each task, no work can be
too much.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may relax and that God's strength will be given to me.
I pray that I may subject my will to God's will and be free from all
tenseness.

WHAT T.J. DREW
Author Unknown

A weary mother returned from the store,
Lugging groceries through the kitchen door.
Awaiting her arrival was her 8 year old son,
Anxious to relate what his younger brother had done.

"While I was out playing and Dad was on a call,
T.J. took his crayons and wrote on the wall!
It's on the new paper you just hung in the den.
I told him you'd be mad at having to do it again."

She let out a moan and furrowed her brow,
"Where is your little brother right now?"
She emptied her arms and with a purposeful stride,
She marched to his closet where he had gone to hide.

She called his full name as she entered his room.
He trembled with fear--he knew that meant doom!
For the next ten minutes, she ranted and raved
About the expensive wallpaper and how she had saved.

Lamenting all the work it would take to repair,
She condemned his actions and total lack of care.
The more she scolded, the madder she got,
Then stomped from his room, totally distraught!

She headed for the den to confirm her fears.
When she saw the wall, her eyes flooded with tears.
The message she read pierced her soul with a dart.
It said, "I love Mommy," surrounded by a heart.

Well, the wallpaper remained, just as she found it,
With an empty picture frame hung to surround it.
A reminder to her, and indeed to all,
Take time to read the handwriting on the wall.

WHY GOD GAVE US FRIENDS
Author Unknown

GOD knew that everyone needs
companionship and cheer,
He knew that people need someone
whose thoughts are always near.

He knew they need someone kind
to lend a helping hand.
Someone to gladly take the time
to care and understand.

GOD knew that we all need someone
to share each happy day,
to be a source of courage
when troubles come our way.

Someone to be true to us,
whether near or far apart.
Someone whose love we'll always
hold and treasure in our hearts.

That's Why GOD Gave Us Friends

It's A Wonderful World
By: Helen Steiner Rice

In spite of the fact this being a wonderful world, we complain and lament and view this old world with much discontent, and grumbling because there's so much injustice and so many flaws. It's a wonderful world, and it's people like you who make it that way by the things that you do.
For a warm and ready smile, or a kind thoughtful deed, or a hand outstretched in an hour of need can change our whole outlook and make this world bright. Where just a minute before nothing seemed right.
It's a wonderful world and it always will be, if we keep our eyes open and focused to see the wonderful things we are capable of when we open our hearts to God and His love.

Prayer to Saints Michael, Gabriel & Raphael

O God, send the Archangels Michael, Gabriel, & Raphael to our assistance. May they who stand forever praising You at Your throne present our humble petitions before You. May they be our safeguard in times of trouble and temptation.  May they defend our country from attack.  May they tirelessly work to end abortion and all the sins against life in the world.  May these powerful angels help to assure the leaders of our country follow You first in all things. And may they help to strengthen our Holy Catholic Church and draw others to this vessel of the Way and the Truth and the Life.  We ask this through Christ our Lord in unity with You and the Holy Ghost, one God, world without end. Amen.

Feast of the Archangels

Today we celebrate the Feast of the Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael.

We know Michael, “Who is like God,” as the great fighter for God against Lucifer and the bad angels.  Gabriel, “Strength of God,” it was who brought the good news of our salvation to Mary at the annunciation; presumably Gabriel also informed Zechariah about the birth of the Precursor John the Baptist. Raphael, “Medicine of God,” cured Tobit and blessed Tobias and Sara in their marriage. Raphael told Tobit, “I am Raphael, one of the seven holy angels who present the prayers of holy people and who stand before the glory of God.” (Tb 12: 15)

The Archangels Michael, Gabriel and Raphael had special roles in the Scriptures as messengers of God. Michael is often depicted and prayed to as a key lead fighter against evil and the enemies of God. Michael is a protector of the Church. Gabriel is forever associated with Mary at the Annunciation. Because of his role in the Book of Tobit, Raphael is prayed to for medical healing.

There is another celebration of the angels in the liturgical calendar, the Memorial of the Holy Guardian Angels on October 2. We believe that God has given or assigned a Guardian Angel for each human being.

There are many instances in the Scriptures where God’s presence is seen through an angel. In today’s Gospel reading Jesus speaks of “the angels of God ascending and descending upon the Son of Man.”

In teaching the disciples on “the greatest in the kingdom of heaven,” Jesus sets a child in their midst, “I assure you that unless you change and become like little children, you cannot enter the kingdom of heaven. Whoever becomes lowly like this child is the greatest in the kingdom of heaven, and whoever receives such a child in my name receives me.” (Mt 18: 1 – 4)  And Jesus adds, “See that you do not despise any of these little ones, for I tell you: their angels in heaven continually see the face of the heavenly Father.” (Mt 18: 10)

We thank God for his loving care for us through the angels.

September 29 - Jesus Calling

I am with you and all around you, encircling you in golden rays of Light. I always behold you Face to face. Not one of your thoughts escapes My notice. Because I am infinite, I am able to love you as if you and I were the only ones in the universe.

Walk with Me in intimate Love-steps, but do not lose sight of My Majesty. I desire to be your closest Friend, yet I am also your sovereign Lord. I created your brain with capacity to know Me as Friend and Lord simultaneously. The human mind is the pinnacle of My creation, but so few use it for its primary purpose—knowing Me. I communicate continually through My Spirit, My Word, and My creation. Only humans are capable of receiving Me and responding to My Presence. You are indeed fearfully and wonderfully made!

I sought the Lord, and he answered me; he delivered me from all my fears. Those who look to him are radiant; their faces are never covered with shame. This poor man called, and the Lord heard him; he saved him out of all his troubles. The angel of the Lord encamps around those who fear him, and he delivers them.
—Psalm 34:4–7

We did not follow cleverly invented stories when we told you about the power and coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, but we were eyewitnesses of his majesty. For he received honor and glory from God the Father when the voice came to him from the Majestic Glory, saying, “This is my Son, whom I love; with him I am well pleased.”
—2 Peter 1:16–17

“Now this is eternal life: that they may know you, the only true God, and Jesus Christ, whom you have sent.”
—John 17:3

I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well.
—Psalm 139:14

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

@gloriajean, I read your posts as often as I can.  I admire your will to spread positivity.  I wonder how you do it -- stay so positive that is.  Obviously it's your faith.  My life is so disappointing to me.  The older I get, the worse I feel.  I wish I could find it in myself or somewhere out there, just a smidge of what you have.  Sometimes what you write pulls me up a little, but then most times it just makes me feel worse about how close I am to the end and I'll never, ever know true joy.  But I just want to say thank you for being you.  Your dedicated readers must find much comfort is just knowing they can always turn to your words here.

I wish you all good things.  Be well.
