Hi,

I have alwasy done my ceu's in buying a book from Western Schools in West Bridgewater, Mass, but when I looked at them this year they have gotten really expensive and the S/H is $10.00 which I find high. They never used to be this expensive so I was looking for another company to order from and I ordered from Elite it has been 3 weeks and I haven't received anything yet. I called a week agao and the CS said I should have received it by last Thrusday and nothing so I called again yesterday and CS said you will get it by this week if not call us. I know with Western Schools it was very fast. Is there any company that  you  have dealed with that has fast delivery? So for  2 years from now I can try someone else. TIA

I use a company called NetCE. I do my CME/CEU courses online because it's quicker and cheaper but you can have the courses mailed to you in print. They have a lot of subjects to choose from and NetCE keeps abreast of individual state requirements and tailors their offerings accordingly.

I am sooooo happy to be retired and not have to worry about CEUs anymore. Don't they offer you CEU programs at work anymore? We just had to go to classes that our hospital offered and then there would be a short quiz to pass - if you went to several a year you would get enough to renew your license. Or for the slackers there would be entire days you could attend and get it all over at once, but you had to be off or on night shift as these were definitely to be done on our own time.

Re: Any Nurses Here? RE: CEU's

I worked for 3 Directors of Nursing during my years at the hospital, and the Education Dept took care of setting up opportunities for nurses to get their CEU's.   Also, every employee in the hospital had mandatory inservices to complete yearly.  When I first started working there, the inservices were scheduled monthly off sight, for an entire day, and you were scheduled to attend in your birthday month.   Several years before I retired, the mandatory inservices were switched to an online program, which was much easier.   We signed in for all other mandatory inservices, and Education kept up with recording everything and notified our manager about our status.   Mandatories had to be completed before yearly evaluations were done, or else this affected your qualifications for your full raise.   My brother has an RN license, and has never had to get CEU's on his own, regardless of where he was working.

I, too, have always used Western Schools.  I prefer actual books, easier to flip through the pages when test taking but I hate paying S & H so I do the online or on my iPad.  Pfieder Enterprises has free CEUs for nurses. They are only 1 to 3 each but they have a lot and it is online so the ceu credit is quick.

Thank you for this thread! I'm a new baby nurse and had absolutely no idea about CEUs until a few months ago. :-)
