Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

Hello my friends!  Tonight we went out to eat with Gordy and Linda again, their turn to buy - it was after Linda's chemo, and more bad news.  The tumor is larger than two weeks ago.  4 more weeks on this kind of chemo and if it doesn't get better, they will try her on something else, with worse side effects, the doctor warned her.  So we pray and pray for her healing.  She is not giving up!  She is 63, and wants to live!  I promised her lots of people will be praying for her.  Six hours of chemo today and that's every two weeks.  Maybe this is why I'm here, to be there for her.

Be patient with others, but mostly be patient with yourself. Lord, help me to keep a smile on my face and to realize my goodness and refuse to dwell on my imperfections.

Scripture for the day:

Jesus was praying in a certain place, and after He had finished, one of His disciples said to Him, "Lord, teach us to pray, as John taught his disciples." He said to them, "When you pray, say Father, hallowed by your name. Your Kingdom come. Give us this day our daily bread. And forgive us our sins, for we ourselves forgive everyone indebted to us. And do not bring us to the time of trial." Luke 11:1-4

Meditation for the day:

I need not become weary in prayer.  When one day we see how unexpectedly our prayer has been answered, then we may deeply regret that we have prayed so little. Prayer can change things for us. We can practice praying until our trust in God has become strong.  And then we can pray on, because it has become so much a habit that we need it daily. We can keep praying until prayer seems to become communion with God. That is the note on which true times of prayer can end.

Prayer for the day:

I pray that I may form the habit of prayer.  I pray that I may find the strength I need, as a result of this communion.

Today

Today I smiled, and all at once
things didn't look so bad.
Today I shared with someone else,
a bit of hope I had.

Today I sang a little song,
and felt my heart grow light,
And walked a happy little mile,
with not a cloud in sight.

Today I worked with what I had
and longed for nothing more,
And what had seemed like only weeds,
were flowers at my door.

Today I loved a little more and
complained a little less,
And in the giving of myself,
I forgot my weariness.

I AM HERE

When you feel no one around I AM HERE!

When you feel you can't get off the ground I AM HERE!

When you feel that everything is lost I AM HERE!

When you feel in the seas you are tossed I AM HERE!

Don't let the world bring you down for I AM HERE!

Don't start your day with a frown for I AM HERE!

Don't shut me out let me stay where I am for I AM HERE!

Don't close the door to your heart where I am for I AM HERE!

When you feel lonely my child know that I AM HERE!

Yes, I love you and I will hold you and show you I AM HERE!

I will pick you up when you stumble and fall for I AM HERE!

I will wipe away the tears in your eyes when you cry for I AM HERE!

I know you are going through hard times know that I AM HERE!

I feel the pain with in your spirit know my child I AM HERE!

Turn it all over to me and let me take care of you for I AM HERE!

I am holding you in my holy arms feel me my child for I AM HERE!

God will never leave us as long as we believe in Him and love Him and do His will.

No matter what satan throws at us God will always be there for us.

Never forget that He is always there with you through it all!

"Brighten"  The Corner Where You Are

We cannot all be famous, or be listed in "Who's Who",
But every person, great or small, has important work to do,
For seldom do we realize the importance of small deeds
Or to what degree of greatness unnoticed kindness leads.

For it's not the big celebrity in a world of fame and praise,
But it's doing unpretentiously in an undistinguished way,
The work that God assigned to us, unimportant as it seems,
That makes our task outstanding and brings reality to dreams.

So do not sit and idly wish for wider, new dimensions
where you can put in practice your many good intentions.
But at the spot God placed you begin at once to do
Little things to brighten up the lives surrounding you.

If everybody brightened up the spot where they're standing
By being more considerate and a little less demanding,
This dark old world would very soon eclipse the evening star
If everybody brightened up the corner where they are!

Prayer to Holy Souls in Purgatory
Oh holy souls in purgatory, you are the certain heirs of heaven. You are most dear to Jesus as the trophies of His Precious Blood and to Mary, mother of mercy. Obtain for me through your intercession the grace to lead a holy life, to die a happy death, and to attain to the blessedness of eternity in heaven.

Dear suffering souls, who long to be delivered in order to praise and glorify God in heaven, by your unfailing pity help me in the needs which distress me at this time, particularly{mention your petition} so that I may obtain relief and assistance from God.

In gratitude for your intercession I offer to God in your behalf the satisfactory merits of my prayer and work, my joys and sufferings of this day.

"Life"

By Bl. Mother Teresa

Life is an opportunity, benefit from it.
Life is beauty, admire it.
Life is bliss, taste it.

Life is a dream, realise it.
Life is a challenge, meet it.
Life is a duty, complete it.

Life is a game, play it.
Life is costly, care for it.
Life is wealth, keep it.

Life is love, enjoy it.
Life is mystery, know it.
Life is a promise, fulfil it.

Life is sorrow, overcome it.
Life is a song, sing it.
Life is a struggle, accept it.

Life is tragedy, confront it.
Life is an adventure, dare it.
Life is luck, make it.

Life is too precious, do not destroy it.
Life is life, fight for it.

 Jesus Calling

Come to Me when you are hurting, and I will soothe your pain. Come to Me when you are joyful, and I will share your Joy, multiplying it many times over. I am All you need, just when you need it. Your deepest desires find fulfillment in Me alone.

This is the age of self-help. Bookstores abound with books about “taking care of number one,” making oneself the center of all things. The main goal of these methodologies is to become self-sufficient and confident. You, however, have been called to take a “road less traveled”: continual dependence on Me. True confidence comes from knowing you are complete in My Presence. Everything you need has its counterpart in Me.
“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” —John 15:5

Perseverance must finish its work so that you may be mature and complete, not lacking anything. —James 1:4

Gloria,  As a former cancer pt. X3 I will pray for this dear lady.  It is a pleasure to pray for her healing.  May Jesus heal her and restore her to health.  May the Dr's and nurses touch her with Godly hands.  May this new round of cemo work.   Please let her know that strangers care about her and are praying for her.  In Jesus' name, Amen

@gloriajean - This post was unbelievably timely for me. The "Jesus Calling" part about depending on him hit me very hard in a good way. Thank you for your posts each day. Saying an extra special prayer for your friend Linda.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Wednesday

So sorry to hear about Linda, I have 2 close friends in the same situation. They are 61 and 64, I think they worry more about their families than themselves. It is very difficult to deal with seeing nice people suffer. I hope Linda's chemo helps.

Thanks, RetRN!  It's so sad when someone is going through this whom we know and love.  We pray Linda's chemo works better.
