Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Greetings to all!  Well my sisters are back home now.  It's been a long but wonderful weekend with them.  Yesterday a good portion of the day was spent celebrating a 50th for our first cousin, visiting with a lot of first cousins. Weather was beautiful - still is.

Getting back to normal now, he's gone to work tonight as usual for Monday nights.

In two weeks we need to go to a Wedding in Rochester, Mn, staying overnight Friday and Saturday there, without Sammy and we need to find a good dog sitter for him yet.  Linda downstairs says she will take care of him, Saturday when her grandchild, Anna, was there, she had her come up and take Sammy down to practice, and all he did was whimper by the door.  I'll have to go down with him to Linda's for while and have him get used to it there, also Anna who is 11, can also come up here with him, where he's more comfortable.  Help me pray for the right decision, okay?

Be a patient person but, most of all, be patient with yourself. Lord, may

I be blessed with a calm spirit and diligence as I do my work today.

"Thanks be to God, who gives us the victory through our Lord Jesus
Christ. Therefore, my beloved, be steadfast, immovable, always
excelling in the work of the Lord, because you know that in the Lord
your labor is not in vain."  ~1 Corinthians 15:57-58

Without God, no real victory is ever won.  All the military victories
of great conquerors have passed into history.  The world might be
better off without military conquerors.  The real victories are won in
the spiritual realm.  "He that conquers himself is greater than he who
conquers a city."  The real victories are victories over sin and
temptation, leading to a victorious and abundant life.  Therefore, we
can keep a brave and trusting heart.  We can face all our difficulties
in the spirit of conquest.  We can remember that where God is, there

is the true victory.

I pray that the forces of evil in my life will flee before God's
presence. I pray that with God I will win the real victory over
myself.

Stop Rewinding

"Dear children, let's not merely say that we love each other; let us show the truth by our actions." John 3:18 NLT

Has someone you cared about mistreated you? Hurt you deeply? Even though years may have passed, you might still harbor resentment and anger. And that unforgiveness is most likely affecting other relationships—maybe even your whole outlook on life. Try as you might to forget the offense, you find yourself rewinding and reviewing again and again.

You will never be able to overcome the hurt of the past and move on freely with your life until you forgive the offender.

As we prepare to begin a new year, determine to be active in your pursuit to forgive. Begin to change your thought pattern about the person. Ask God to help you see this individual with eyes of love, looking beyond fault and seeing need. When you speak about the person, speak of needs and strengths—not offenses and weaknesses. Pray for this person and, if possible, take action to do something nice for him or her.

Forgiveness is not easy, especially when the hurt is deep. It helps to remember what Jesus did for us. Even though we certainly didn't deserve forgiveness, he died on the cross to pay the price for our sin. He offers us forgiveness as a gift. Let us be willing to offer others the gift of our forgiveness.

Prayer

Father, help me to be active in my pursuit to forgive. Help me to see this person through your eyes. Help me to speak and think good and not bad about him. Help me to offer the gift of my forgiveness. In Jesus' name, Amen

Possibilities

by Alice Joyce Davidson

The more faith you have,

The more you believe,

The more goals you set,

The more you'll achieve.

So reach for the stars,

Pick a mountain to climb,

Dare to think big.

But give yourself time.

Remember no matter,

How futile things seem,

With faith, there is no

Impossible dream!

Remember that joy is not dependent on your circumstances. Some of the world’s most miserable people are those whose circumstances seem the most enviable. People who reach the top of the ladder career-wise are often surprised to find emptiness awaiting them. True Joy is a by-product of living in My Presence. Therefore you can experience it in palaces, in prisons…anywhere.

Do not judge a day as devoid of Joy just because it contains difficulties. Instead, concentrate on staying in communication with Me. Many of the problems that clamor for your attention will resolve themselves. Other matters you must deal with, but I will help you with them. If you make problem-solving secondary to the goal of living close to Me, you can find Joy even in your most difficult days.

Though the fig tree does not bud and there are no grapes on the vines, though the olive crop fails and the fields produce no food, though there are no sheep in the pen and no cattle in the stalls, yet I will rejoice in the Lord, I will be joyful in God my Savior. The Sovereign Lord is my strength; he makes my feet like the feet of a deer, he enables me to go on the heights. —Habakkuk 3:17–19

Splendor and majesty are before him; strength and joy in his dwelling place. —1 Chronicles16:27
