Daily Positive Thread for Tuesday

Hello my friends!  Nothing exciting to talk about today, but God's blessings are all around us all the time. It's even a blessing to wake up in the morning, and you are alive to give God Glory another day!  PRAISE BE JESUS CHRIST! He is Risen! Alleluia!

 

 

Enthusiasm will be yours if you love God, love people,
and love life. Lord, the nearer I follow Your way,
the happier I become.

S C R I P T U R E   F O R   T H E   D A Y  

"Lead me in the path of your commandments, for I delight in it.  Turn
my heart to your decrees, and not to selfish gain.  Turn my eyes from

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y 

I can learn to overcome myself, because every blow to selfishness is
used to shape the real, eternal, imperishable me.  As I overcome
myself, I can gain that power which God releases in my soul.  And I
too can be victorious.  It is not the difficulties of life that I have
to conquer, so much as my own selfishness.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y  

I pray that I may obey God and walk with God and listen to God.  I
pray that I may strive to overcome my own selfishness.
 

Prayer for the Feast of the Annunciation

Oh God, Who wast pleased that Thy Word should take Flesh in the womb of the Blessed Virgin Mary at the message of an Angel, grant to us Thy suppliants that we, who believe her to be truly the Mother of God, may be aided by her intercession before Thee. Through the same Lord Jesus Christ forever and ever. Amen.

Pour forth, we beseech Thee, O Lord, Thy grace into our hearts, that we to whom the Incarnation of Christ, Thy Son, was made known by the message of an angel, may by His Passion and Cross be brought to the glory of His resurrection. Through the same Christ our Lord. Amen.

 

Letting Go of Resentments

A story tells of a merchant in a small town who had identical twin sons. The boys worked for their father in the department store he owned and, when he died, they took over the store.

Everything went well until the day a dollar bill disappeared. One of the brothers had left the bill on the cash register and walked outside with a customer. When he returned, the money was gone. He asked his brother, 

"Did you see that dollar bill on the cash register?" 

His brother replied that he had not. But the young man kept probing and questioning. He would not let it alone. 

"Dollar bills just don't get up and walk away! Surely you must have seen it!" 

There was subtle accusation in his voice. Tempers began to rise. Resentment set in. Before long, a deep and bitter chasm divided the young men. They refused to speak. They finally decided they could no longer work together and a dividing wall was built down the center of the store. For twenty years hostility and bitterness grew, spreading to their families and to the community.

Then one day a man in an automobile licensed in another state stopped in front of the store. He walked in and asked the clerk,

"How long have you been here?"

The clerk replied that he'd been there all his life. The customer said,

"I must share something with you. Twenty years ago I was 'riding the rails' and came into this town in a boxcar. I hadn't eaten for three days. I came into this store from the back door and saw a dollar bill on the cash register. I put it in my pocket and walked out. All these years I haven't been able to forget that. I know it wasn't much money, but I had to come back and ask your forgiveness."

The stranger was amazed to see tears well up in the eyes of this middle-aged man.

"Would you please go next door and tell that same story to the man in the store?" he said.

Then the man was even more amazed to see two middle-aged men, who looked very much alike, embracing each other and weeping together in the front of the store. After twenty years, the brokenness was mended. The wall of resentment that divided them came down.

It is so often the little things -- like resentments -- that finally divide people. And the solution, of course, is to let them go. There is really nothing particularly profound about it. But for fulfilling and lasting relationships, letting them go is a must. Refuse to carry around bitterness and you may be surprised at how much energy you have left for building bonds with those you love.''

 

Don't Say You're Not Important

A Blue Rose

Having four visiting family members, my wife was very busy, so I offered to go to the store for her to get some needed items, which included light bulbs, paper towels, trash bags, detergent and Clorox. So off I went.

I scurried around the store, gathered up my goodies and headed for the checkout counter, only to be blocked in the narrow aisle by a young man who appeared to be about sixteen-years-old. I wasn't in a hurry, so I patiently waited for the boy to realize that I was there. This was when he waved his hands excitedly in the air and declared in a loud voice, "Mommy, I'm over here."

It was obvious now, he was mentally challenged and also startled as he turned and saw me standing so close to him, waiting to squeeze by. His eyes widened and surprise exploded on his face as I said, "Hey Buddy, what's your name?"

"My name is Denny and I'm shopping with my mother," he responded proudly.

"Wow," I said, "that's a cool name; I wish my name was Denny, but my name is Steve."

"Steve, like Stevarino?" he asked. "Yes," I answered. "How old are you Denny?"

"How old am I now, Mommy?" he asked his mother as she slowly came over from the next aisle.

"You're fifteen-years-old Denny; now be a good boy and let the man pass by."

I acknowledged her and continued to talk to Denny for several more minutes about summer, bicycles and school. I watched his brown eyes dance with excitement, because he was the center of someone's attention. He then abruptly turned and headed toward the toy section.

Denny's mom had a puzzled look on her face and thanked me for taking the time to talk with her son. She told me that most people wouldn't even look at him, much less talk to him.

I told her that it was my pleasure and then I said something I have no idea where it came from, other than by the prompting of the Holy Spirit. I told her that there are plenty of red, yellow, and pink roses in God's Garden; however, "Blue Roses" are very rare and should be appreciated for their beauty and distinctiveness. You see, Denny is a Blue Rose and if someone doesn't stop and smell that rose with their heart and touch that rose with their kindness, then they've missed a blessing from God.

She was silent for a second, then with a tear in her eye she asked, "Who are you?"

Without thinking I said, "Oh, I'm probably just a dandelion, but I sure love living in God's garden."

She reached out, squeezed my hand and said, "God bless you!" and then I had tears in my eyes.

May I suggest, the next time you see a BLUE ROSE, don't turn your head and walk off. Take the time to smile and say Hello. Why? Because, by the grace of GOD, this mother or father could be you. This could be your child, grandchild, niece or nephew. What a difference a moment can mean to that person or their family.

From an old dandelion! Live simply. Love generously. Care deeply. Speak kindly. Leave the rest to God.

April 4  - Jesus Calling

I meet you in the stillness of your soul. It is there that I seek to commune with you. A person who is open to My Presence is exceedingly precious to Me. Stillness of soul is increasingly rare in this world addicted to speed and noise. I am pleased with your desire to create a quiet space where you and I can meet. Nothing exciting here either. I treated myself to breakfast out this morning, then went grocery shopping, and then headed to  the polls to cast my vote. It is windy here today and snow is on the way. Everyday is a blessing.

RetRN - thanks for posting!  We have alot of wind here too, and maybe some snow is on the way, hope not.  This is my birthday month, it's usually nice weather, April showers, but not snow.
