Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Hello my friends!  Cool day here today!  Went to Mass this morning, needed a sweater!  Got some free booklets after Mass - very good reading!  Having an easy supper tonight, taco salad - once in a while that's good!  Today I haven't been in touch with the outside world - and that's okay.  Tomorrow I will as Father Jerry is our guest for lunch and having a noon Mass here with us.  How special is that?  Then we're going over to his brother's place. My blessings today - Mass, oh wait! that was in touch with the outside world, wasn't it, I visited with people after that, but since then no phone calls, nothing. Just an ordinary day with lots of blessings of peace and quiet!  How about you?  Do you like those ordinary days?

As we help those in need or comfort those in trouble, God's great love and divine

glory is revealed to the world.  Lord, I am Your servant.  May others know more

of You through me.

"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a
wise man who built his house on rock.  The rain fell, the floods came, and
the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had
been founded on rock."  ~Matthew 7:24-25

Every strong and beautiful flower must have a strong root in the ground. It
can send a root down so that it may be rooted and grounded while at the same
time it sends a shoot up to be the flower that gladdens the world.  Both
growths are necessary.  Without a strong root, it would soon wither.  The
higher the growth upward, the deeper must be the rooting.  My life cannot
flower into success and helpfulness unless it is rooted in a strong faith. I
can feel deeply secure in the goodness and purpose of the universe.

I pray that my life may be deeply rooted in faith.  I pray that I may feel
deeply secure.

Written by my friend, Mel Patterson:

SWIFTLY AS THE WIND

O Lord, when my span of years has come to an end?
Will I be strong in fervor as I come round that bend?
Will I be faithful to all You've asked me to do?
Will I lay all my selfishness aside
And run swiftly as the wind to You?

Lord, You know the very recesses of my heart
It's only my own sinfulness that keeps us apart
O that I may be faithful to all You ask me to do
Please align me, Sweet Jesus, with Your Holy Will.
For satan it pleases my soul to kill.

The Blood You shed for love of all men
Your Sacrifice our very souls to transcend
Extraordinarily Issued from God, our Father
Triune Godhead, Lord God, and Holy Spirit
Jesus Christ, Your Holy Love, we endear it.

When our span of years comes to its' end?
Will we be strong in fervor as we round that bend?
We we be faithful in all You asked us to do?
Will we have lain all selfishness aside?
And run swiftly as the wind to You?

Trusting in Your mercy having Faith to believe
That we repentant sinners You will receive
We hope when our journeys are done
We may image Your Divine Son
Swiftly as the wind, with Him, run
And through the power of His grace
Enter Your Courts for Worship and Praise
In joyful chorus singing for endless days
Beholding the Beauty of Your Holy Face...

Swiftly as the wind we run!

Honesty

Good people will be guided by honesty. Proverbs 11:3

Have you ever been tempted to try a little sleight of hand, or some
deception
that will give you an edge over someone else, or a privilege you want? Even
if we pride ourselves on being clever, God calls it something else, He calls
it
being dishonest. For all who strive to follow Him, God sets clear directions
to guide thought, speech, conduct, and relationships. With help of the Holy
Spirit, commit yourself to honesty in all you say and do.

Light shines on those who do right; Joy belongs to those who are honest.
Psalms 97:11

When you're honest and forthright in all things, you never need worry about
covering your tracks or being exposed. You can live with lightness of spirit
unknown to those who must glance over their shoulders in fear of being
found out. Ask God to show you where you need to act in more upright and
blameless way. With the help of His Spirit working in you, resolve that your
relationships, and dealings will be marked by Godly honesty.

I Need A Hug Lord

I need a hug Lord please hold me tight,
it would give me added assurance everything’s all right.

Now I know I’m standing on faith and I understand;
You are in control and hold me in your hand.

I know in my heart that I haven’t a spirit of fear
and that when I have a need you are always there.

My faith doesn’t depend on me getting this embrace;
the faith you’ve provided is strongly in place.

An embrace is something of which I’ve had far too few,
having no others wouldn’t matter if I had one from you.

I know that you love me I feel it deep in my heart,
I haven’t doubted once since our relationship had it’s start.

I know every single one of my needs has been met,
not even one time have you ever disappointed me yet.

But Father ever since the beginning when you created man,
an occasional embrace was part of your plan.

Now the people in my life don’t believe in embracing you see,
so just this one time won’t you please hug me?

I promise I won’t be a bother I won’t pester You any more,
just this once may I have a hug from the one I adore?

I need a hug Lord just hold me tight,
I know it’ll be enough to give me a lifetime of delight!

PRAYER WHEN YOU WANT TO WALK WITH GOD

Dear God, help me to walk with you all through today.
Give me today
something of the wisdom that was in your words.
something of the love that was in your heart.
something of the help that was in your hands.
Give me today
something of your patience with people,
something of your ability to bear slights and insults and bitterness
without resentment,
something of your ability to forgive.
Help me to live in such a way today that others may know that I began
the day with you, and that I am walking with you, however dimly, others
may see you in me. Amen.

May 31 - Jesus Calling

The Peace that I give you transcends your intellect. When most of your mental energy goes into efforts to figure things out, you are unable to receive this glorious gift. I look into your mind and see thoughts spinning round and round: going nowhere, accomplishing nothing. All the while, My Peace hovers over you, searching for a place to land.

Be still in My Presence, inviting Me to control your thoughts. Let My Light soak into your mind and heart, until you are aglow with My very Being. This is the most effective way to receive My Peace.

Now may the Lord of peace himself give you peace at all times and in every way. The Lord be with all of you.
—2 Thessalonians 3:16

“Submit to God and be at peace with him; in this way prosperity will come to you.”
—Job 22:21

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Ordinary days are my most favorite!  In them are so many blessings and miracles.  It really is the simple things and ordinary that make each day extraordinary.

When I was unemployed I went to Mass daily and just loved it.  Once I got a new job could not do that but I start my day with quiet prayers and that is fine too.

yesterday was filled with so many blessings. My job and the students and teachers I work with.  Some of the kids just amaze me because of all they live with.  Some kids deal with so much at home that is makes me wonder how they can function at school and some do and others are not doing well.  I pray life gets better for them before they go down a bad path.  They are my blessings because they bring me out of my comfortable world to see really what life can be.

I pray today for clarity of mind and heart, to see the beauty in all and to embrace each day and continue to work on letting go of lots of stuff! I pray for the kids I work with and that they see the miracles that they are.

Have a blessed day and thank you for this thread. It is a lovely way to begin my day and get to know new people.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Harlene - YES! They are special too!!

Nancy - Going to Mass daily is a very special blessing!! You must be a teacher, am I right?  A very good one, too!  Love reading your posts! My daughter is a teacher too, at the University here in town, taking the Semester off though in Fall because her identical twin girls will be born in July!  She is 42, and her first pregnancy.  She's having lots of prayers going for her, always needs prayers.  I'm so glad you found this thread!!

God bless you always!
