Daily Positive Thread for Thursday

Greetings all!  Hope you all are having a good Wednesday!  Today I did things that didn't require so much energy and feel better.  Just heard that Darla has a pinched nerve in her leg, and causes her much pain.  please pray for her, she may have to go on bed rest sooner than later, hope not.  Thank you all for your prayers for her.

When your world turns upside down and everything seems so frightening,
thank God for His unchanging and constant love. Lord, Your love is the same
yesterday, today and tomorrow. In You I am safe and cared for.

S C R I P T U R E   F O R   T H E   D A Y

"He who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will supply and
multiply your seed for sowing and increase the harvest of your
righteousness.  You will be enriched in every way for your great
generosity, which will produce thanksgiving to God through us; for the
rendering of this ministry not only supplies the needs of the saints
but also overflows with many thanksgivings to God."  ~2 Corinthians
9:10-12

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I believe that God had already seen my heart's needs before I cried to
God, before I was conscious of those needs myself.  I believe that God
was already preparing the answer.  God does not have to be petitioned
with sighs and tears and much speaking before God reluctantly looses
the desired help.  God has already anticipated our every want and
need.  I can try to see this, and humbly receive all that God has to
offer me.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may understand my real wants and needs.  I pray that my
understanding of those needs and wants may help to bring the answer to
them.

Lenten Reflections by Bishop Robert Barron

Lent Day 29
Shift Your Perspective
There is a shift in consciousness that is essential to religion. It is the shift—conversion if you will—from a world-centered perspective to a God-centered perspective. It involves a letting-go of passing things in this world and resolutely clinging to God alone.

That means even letting go of relationships—even the best and most intense. Mind you, I don't mean this in the literal sense, but, if I can put it this way, in the attitudinal sense, “as if” they were not all defining.

St. Paul tells us that we are not to make the things of this world all important. We are not to be sad or happy but we are to understand that worldly happiness or unhappiness ultimately doesn’t matter.

St. Paul was so overwhelmed by the resurrection of Jesus from the dead that everything in this world was relativized. God’s love and purpose and existence—made eminently clear in the Resurrection—caused this world to fade into relative insignificance.

This is the apatheia urged by the Greek fathers and theindifferencia of Ignatius of Loyola: “Whether I have a long life or a short life; whether I am healthy or ill; whether I am wealthy or impoverished—it doesn’t matter, as long as I am serving the Lord.”

Instead of seeing money, success, fame, power, and pleasure as ultimate goods, see them as nothing compared to the grace of God. Instead of living as though worldly success were ultimate, live as though the things of this world don’t matter at all. In a word, change your mind, and see things from the perspective of God.

Live Your Prayers

I knelt to pray when day was done
And prayed, "O Lord, bless everyone,
Lift from each saddened heart the pain
And let the sick be well again."

And then I woke another day
And carelessly went on my way,
The whole day long I did not try
To wipe a tear from any eye.

I did not try to share the load
Of any brother on the road.
I did not even go to see
The sick man just next door to me.

Yet once again when day was done
I prayed, "O Lord, bless everyone."
But as I prayed, into my ear
there came a voice that whispered clear,

"Pause now, my child, before you pray.
Whom have you tried to bless today?
God's sweetest blessings always go
by hands that serve him here below."

And then I hid my face and cried,
"Forgive me, God, I have not tried,
But let me live another day
and I will live the way I pray."

YOU ARE MY LEANING POST

- by JEAN CONDER SOULE

You are my leaning post, dear Lord,
My shelter and my rock.
You open up the door for me
Each time You hear me knock.

All I need to do is ask
And You provide the way.
You hear me when I call You
The times I kneel to pray.

Thank You, Lord, for your great love,
Your comfort and Your care.
It's such a joy for me to know
I may seek and find You there.

If you would like to know God ... Look at the crucifix.

If you would like to love God ... Look at the crucifix.

If you want to serve God ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wonder what you are worth ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wonder how much God loves you ... Look at the crucifix.

If you want to know the need for self-denial and sacrifice ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wonder how much you should forgive others ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wonder how much you should do for others ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wonder how much your faith demands ... of you in humility, poverty, charity in every virtue ... Look at the crucifix.

If you want to know what unselfishness and generosity are ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wonder how far your own unselfishness should go to bring others to Christ ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wish to live well ... Look at the crucifix.

If you wish to die well ... Look at the crucifix.

When was the last time you really thought about how much suffering Jesus went through for you?
Next time you think your pain and suffering is too much to bear ...
Look at the crucifix and say: JESUS UNDERSTANDS!

The Cross

The Cross suffered by you, Jesus Christ, freed me from the slavery of the devil and wed me to the Divinity with an indissoluble bond.

Prayer of Love for the Crucified Lord
O Jesus, it is not the heavenly reward you have promised which impels me to love you; neither is it the threat of hell that keep me from offending you. It is you, O Lord, it is the sight of you affixed to the Cross and suffering insults; it is the sight of your broken body, as well as your pains and your death. There is nothing you can give me to make me love you. For even if there were no heaven and no hell I would still love you as I do. Amen.

Verse of the Day

"Do not love the world or the things in the world. The love of the Father is not in those who love the world; for all that is in the world—the desire of the flesh, the desire of the eyes, the pride in riches—comes not from the Father but from the world. And the world and its desire[f] are passing away, but those who do the will of God live forever."

1 John 2:15-17

March 9 - Jesus Calling

Rest in My radiant presence.  The world around you seems to spin faster and faster, till everything is a blur. Yet there is a cushion of calm at the center of you life, where you live in union with Me.  Return to this soothing canter as often as you can, for this is where you are energized: filled with My love, joy and peace.

The world is a needy place; do not go there for sustenance, Instead, come to Me.  Learn to depend on Me alone, and your weakness will become saturated with My power.  When you find your completeness in Me, you can help other people without using them to meet your own needs.  Live in the light of My presence, and your light will shine brightly into the lives of others.

Galatians 5:22     But the fruit of the spirit is love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faithfulness.

1 John 4:12     No one has ever seen God; but if we  love one another, God lives in us and his love is made complete in us.
