Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Hello my friends!  Another restful day for me!  Feeling better now, and anxious for our Sunday Mass tomorrow, our new priest, Father David is back from his cruise, and I'm sure he'll talk a bit about it.  When Father Jerry got back, (they went together) he got so busy with things, I haven't talked to him yet, just talked to Shirley, his sister.  Retired but so busy!  As long as they have their health, that's good.

The moment of absolute certainty over decisions made never arrives, so make
your decision and move on. Lord, grant me wisdom and confidence in making
my choices and the ability to recognize when new decisions need to be made.

"For the LORD God is a sun and shield; he bestows favor and honor. No
good thing does the LORD withhold from those who walk uprightly."
~Psalm 84:11

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y

God is good.  We can often tell whether or not a thing is of God.  If it
is of God, it must be good.  Honesty, purity, unselfishness, and love
are all good.  Unselfish helpfulness is good, and these things all lead
to the abundant life.  We can leave in God's hands the present and the
future,
knowing that only God is good.   God can bring order out of chaos, good
out
of evil, and peace out of turmoil.  We can believe that everything
really good comes from God and that God shares God's goodness with us.

I pray that I may reach out for the good.  I pray that I may try to
choose the best in life.

The Cross

The Cross is the coin of inestimable value and if I, Holy Spouse, shall have the fortune of possessing it, I shall enrich myself with eternal coins unto making myself the richest of Paradise, for the money that circulates in Heaven is the Cross that is suffered on earth.

Prayer Found Under Christ's Sepulchre 1503AD

O God Almighty, who suffered death upon the cross, particularly for my sins, be with me.

Holy Cross of Jesus - have pity on me.
Holy Cross of Jesus - be my protector.
Holy Cross of Jesus - take away all bitter pains.
Holy Cross of Jesus - take away all evil.
Holy Cross of Jesus - let me walk in the way of salvation.

Preserve me from any temporal accidents, take away any danger of sudden death. I always adore the Holy Cross of Jesus Christ: Jesus of Nazareth crucified, have pity on me; make the spirit of evil leave me for all times. O Mother of Perpetual Succour. I come before Thy Sacred picture and with a child-like conscience invoke thine aid. Show Thyself a Mother to me now. Have pity of me. O, dearest Mother of Perpetual Succour, for the love Thou bearest to Jesus and in honor of His Sacred Wounds, help me in this my necessity.mention specific intent

O Loving Mother, I leave is all to thee in the Name of the Father. I leave all to Thee in the Name of the Son. I leave all to Thee in the Name of the Holy Spirit.

Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, pray for us.
Our Lady of Perpetual Succour, pray for us.

A Prayer for Lent

Father, through our observance of Lent, help us to understand the meaning of your Son's death and resurrection, and teach us to reflect it in our lives. Grant this through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you and the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

Verse of the Day

"His divine power has given us everything needed for life and godliness, through the knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Thus he has given us, through these things, his precious and very great promises, so that through them you may escape from the corruption that is in the world because of lust, and may become participants of the divine nature."

2 Peter 1:3-4

Nails meant For Me
The nail was driven through His hand,
Oh the pain that was unjustly dealt.
But much worse was the agony,
Of mankind's sin He felt.

The crown of thorns that tore into His scalp,
Was a punctuation to mankind's rejection.
The world denied the King of kings,
A man who attained perfection.

In a moment all was finished,
Christ's work was done,
He had accomplished the Father's will,
That he chose for His only begotten Son.

The nails of pain, He took for our sins,
They were nails meant for me,
But thanks to God's Grace,
The nails of death I will never see.

VISITING DAY
Author Unknown

He was looking forward to this moment all day long, after 6 days of
labor and it finally arrived - Visiting Day!

The man with the keys arrived to swing open the large, heavy doors.
The cold gray hall springs to life in the warm glow of light. He could
hardly control His emotions.

The families began to arrive. He peers from the corner of the room
longing for the 1st glimpse of His loved one. He lives for the
weekends. He lives for these visits.

As the cars arrive, He watches intently. Then, finally, they arrive,
for whom He would do anything. They embrace, eat a light lunch and
reminisce how things used to be.

At one point, they break into singing, with interruptions of laughter
and applause. But all too soon it is over. A tear comes to His eyes as
they depart.

Then the man with the keys closes the heavy doors. He hears the key
turn in the lock marking the end of a special day. There He stands,
alone again.

He knows that most of His visitors will not contact Him again till
next week. As the last car pulls away from the parking lot, Jesus
retreats into loneliness as He waits until next Sunday - Visiting Day.

Is the time that we spend with Jesus an everyday thing, or do we just
visit Him on Sunday. Think about it ...

A TRICK
Author Unknown

A young man, a student in one of our universities, was one day taking
a walk with a professor, who was commonly called the students' friend,
from his kindness to those who waited on his instructions.

As they went along, they saw lying in the path a pair of old shoes,
which they supposed to belong to a poor man who was employed in a
field close by, and who had nearly finished his day's work.

The student turned to the professor, saying: "Let us play the man a
trick: we will hide his shoes, and conceal ourselves behind those
bushes, and wait to see his perplexity when he cannot find them."

"My young friend," answered the professor, "we should never amuse
ourselves at the expense of the poor. But you are rich, and may give
yourself a much greater pleasure by means of the poor man. Put a coin
into each shoe, and
then we will hide ourselves and watch how the discovery affects him."

The student did so, and they both placed themselves behind the bushes
close by.

The poor man soon finished his work, and came across the field to the
path where he had left his coat and shoes. While putting on his coat
he slipped his foot into one of his shoes; but feeling something hard,
he stooped down
to feel what it was, and found the coin.

Astonishment and wonder were seen upon his countenance. He gazed upon
the coin, turned it round, and looked at it again and again. He then
looked around him on all sides, but no person was to be seen. He now
put the money into his pocket, and proceeded to put on the other shoe;
but his surprise was doubled on finding the other coin.

His feelings overcame him; he fell upon his knees, looked up to heaven
and uttered aloud a fervent thanksgiving, in which he spoke of his
wife, sick and helpless, and his children without bread, whom the
timely bounty, from
some unknown hand, would save from perishing.

The student stood there deeply affected, and his eyes filled with
tears."Now," said the professor, "are you not much better pleased than
if you had played your intended trick?"

The youth replied, "You have taught me a lesson which I will never
forget. I feel now the truth of those words, which I never understood
before: 'It is more blessed to give than to receive.'"

Wisdom

Early in his career the brilliant young lawyer Clarence Darrow was defending a man in court. The much older lawyer defending the other client started to make fun in court and referred to him as "that beardless youth."

Darrow answered him in this way:

"My worthy opponent seems to downgrade me for not having a beard. Let me answer him with a story. The king of Spain once sent a young nobleman to the court of a neighboring monarch. On seeing the young man, he sneered: Does the king of Spain have no real men? Why does he send me a beardless boy? To which the young ambassador replied: My Lord, if my king had supposed that you judged intelligence by the size of a beard, he would have sent you a goat."

Incidentally, Clarence Darrow won the case.

In the Old Testament the prophet Jeremiah was trying to avoid God's call to go and teach people and the Lord said to him: "Do not say I am too young." Jer. 1:7

March 5 - Jesus Calling

Make friends with the problems in your life. Though many things feel random and wrong, remember that I am sovereign over everything. I can fit everything into a pattern for good, but only to the extent that you trust Me. Every problem can teach you something, transforming you little by little into the masterpiece I created you to be. The very same problem can become a stumbling block over which you fall, if you react with distrust and defiance. The choice is up to you, and you will have to choose many times each day whether to trust Me or defy Me.

The best way to befriend your problems is to thank Me for them. This simple act opens your mind to the possibility of benefits flowing from your difficulties. You can even give persistent problems nicknames, helping you to approach them with familiarity rather than with dread. The next step is to introduce them to Me, enabling Me to embrace them in My loving Presence. I will not necessarily remove your problems, but My wisdom is sufficient to bring good out of every one of them.

We are assured and know that [God being a partner in their labor] all things work together and are [fitting into a plan] for good to and for those who love God and are called according to [His] design and purpose.
—Romans 8:28 amp

But we preach Christ crucified: a stumbling block to Jews and foolishness to Gentiles, but to those whom God has called, both Jews and Greeks, Christ the power of God and the wisdom of God.
—1 Corinthians 1:23–24
