Daily Positive Thread for Sunday

Hello my friends!  Thanks for your get well wishes - it meant a whole lot to me see them!  Although my right hand is swollen yet, I'm thinking I'm on the mend. Still am planning on Sisters Pat and Phyllis over tomorrow afternoon for a pork chop supper, should be getting better by the day.  Again, thanks to God for nothing more serious. This will heal in time, that we know.  In the meantime, I'm offering it up, no pain goes wasted that way.  Thank so much again for your posts, love you all so much!

There is not one moment that we are separated from God's care unless
we choose to be.  Lord, You provide for my daily needs and deliver me
from evil.  You are my refuge.

"When you turn to the right or when you turn to the left, your ears
shall hear a word behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it.'"
~Isaiah 30:21

"When you turn to the right or when you turn to the left, your ears
shall hear a word behind you, saying, 'This is the way; walk in it.'"
There seems to be a right way to live and a wrong way.  We can make a
practical test. When we live the right way, things seem to work out well
for us.  When we live the wrong way, things seem to work out badly.  We
seem to take out of life about what we put into it.  If we disobey the
laws of nature, chances are that we will be unhealthy.  If we disobey
the spiritual and moral laws, chances are that we will be unhappy.  By
following the laws of nature and the spiritual laws of honesty, purity,
unselfishness and love, we can expect to be reasonably healthy and
happy.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may try to live the right way.  I pray that I may follow
the path that leads to a better life.

Guardian Angel Prayer For Friends

Guardian Angel,
watch over those whose names you can read in my heart.
Guard over them with every care
and make their way easy and their labors fruitful.
Dry their tears if they weep;
sanctify their joys;
raise their courage if they weaken;
restore their hope if they lose heart,
their health if they be ill,
truth if they err,
repentance if they fail...

Amen.

Kindness is Contagious
by Phyllis Yearick

My 9-year-old daughter and I were flying from our home in Charlotte,
North Carolina, to spend a week with my husband in Miami, Florida. Mike
had been in Florida for five months working for an Internet start-up
company. We were excited about the trip because we had seen him only five
times in five months, and Kallie missed her dad terribly.

As usual on the Charlotte-to-Miami flight, the plane was totally full.
I had noticed a troop of Boy Scouts at the gate and commented to my
daughter that if anything happened, we would be OK with all those Scouts
on our flight! Little did I know....

Because we did not get our boarding passes until we arrived at the
gate, Kallie and I could not get seats together and were separated by the
aisle. That wasn't such a big deal, except that Kallie was nervous about
the trip and had counted on my reading to her the whole way. Trying to
read across the aisle would be a challenge.

When the two passengers who shared my row boarded the plane, I asked
if they would switch places with Kallie and me, so that we could be
together and so that she could sit next to the window. They refused,
saying they thought they should stay in their assigned seats. Meanwhile,
a mother and her three children were in a panic several rows ahead of us.
There had been a mistake in their boarding passes, the whole family had
been split up.

The passengers in her row also refused to move elsewhere. The mother
could hold her baby, but her 6-year-old son and his older brother had
been scattered around the plane. She was very concerned about the younger
boy sitting with strangers. She was in tears, yet nobody offered to help
her.

Suddenly the Scout leader stood up and said, "Ma'am, I think we can
help you." He then spent five minutes rearranging his group so that
adequate space was available for the family. The boys followed his
directions cheerfully and without complaint, and the mother's relief was
obvious.

Kallie, however, was beginning to panic at the thought of not being
next to a window or her mother. I told her that there wasn't anything I
could do; we would have to sit where we were. Amazingly, the man sitting
next to the Scoutmaster (not a Scout himself), turned around to me and
asked, "Would you and your daughter like our seats?" referring to himself
and the Scoutmaster. He said he was cramped in the window seat and would
really prefer the aisle. We traded seats and continued our trip, very
much relieved to be together and watch the scenery from Kallie's window
seat.

Would that man have offered us his seat if the Scouts hadn't done so
for the mom and her children? I don't know. But I do know that kindness
is contagious, and good deeds beget good deeds!

Let Go Of Anger

Anger: It can be defined as the noise of the soul. Anger: It is the unseen irritant of the heart. Anger: The relentless invader of our peace.... The louder it gets the more desperate we become.....

The normal response to a plea to calm down is; "You don't know how hard my life has been." And you are right. I don't. But I have a very clear idea how miserable your future will be unless you deal with your anger. For in the words of our day; "I've been there, done that." And I speak from experience, anger only breeds bitterness, depression and defeat.

If you could x-ray the soul of the vengeful and angry person you would behold the tumor of bitterness, black, menacing, malignant. Anger is carcinoma of the spirit. It's fatal fibers creep around the edge of the heart and ravage it, driving a wedge between us and happiness. Yesterday you can not alter, but your reaction to yesterday you can. The past you can not change, but your response to your past you can.

God will take your anger, you have only to ask, and then be willing to give it away. Don't fall for the world's trap, voiced in that old saying; "People can bury the hatchet; but they never forget where they buried it." God brings the peace that passes all understanding and can restore silence, tranquility and love in our lives.

21 Suggestions...

1) Marry the right person. This one decision will determine 90 of your happiness or misery.

2) Work at something you enjoy and that´s worthy of your time and talent.

3) Give people more than they expect and do it cheerfully.

16) Be a self-starter

17)Be decisive even if it means you'll sometimes be wrong.

October 31 - Jesus Calling

Learn to listen to Me even while you are listening to other people. As they open their souls to your scrutiny, you are on holy ground. You need the help of My Spirit to respond appropriately. Ask Him to think through you, live through you, love through you. My own Being is alive within you in the Person of the Holy Spirit. If you respond to others’ needs through your unaided thought processes, you offer them dry crumbs. When the Spirit empowers your listening and speaking, My streams of living water flow through you to other people. Be a channel of My Love, Joy, and Peace by listening to Me as you listen to others.

“Do not come any closer,” God said. “Take off your sandals, for the place where you are standing is holy ground.” —Exodus 3:5

Do you not know that your body is a temple of the Holy Spirit, who is in you, whom you have received from God? You are not your own. —1 Corinthians 6:19

Whoever believes in me, as the Scripture has said, streams of living water will flow from within him.” By this he meant the Spirit, whom those who believed in him were later to receive. Up to that time the Spirit had not been given, since Jesus had not yet been glorified. —John
