Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hello my friends!  Today I had the eye doctor probe into my tear duct to open it, went far down, I think, and I do hope it works - hope he did get it opened.  Now I have to do eye drops four times a day for 3 weeks, and see him again.  I pray it works.  Talked to both daughters today - that's always good!  Weather here is hot!  It got up to 88 degrees!  AC's running.  Praying for you all!!

Keep yourself young in spirit always by thinking new thoughts and getting
rid of old habits. Lord, may my spirit never become a frail and my abilities
never become barren.

"Jesus turned and said to Peter, 'Get behind me, Satan! You are a
stumbling block to me; for you are setting your mind not on divine things
but on human things. 'Then Jesus told his disciples, 'If any want to become
my followers, let them deny themselves and take up their cross and follow
me.  For those who want to save their life will lose it, and those who lose
their life for my sake will find it.'"  ~Matthew 16:23-25

We were born with the Divine within us.  Living a selfish life can hinder
the Divine from being expressed and shared.  The celestial fire has to be
tended and fed so that it will grow into a real desire to live the right
way.  By trying to do the will of God, we grow more and more in the new way
of life.  By thinking of God, praying to God and having communion with God,
we gradually grow more like God.  The way of our transformation from the
material to the spiritual allows God to work in and through us.

I pray that I may tend the spark of the Divine within me so that it will
grow.  I pray that I may be gradually transformed from the old life to the
new and fuller life.

A Prayer to St. Peregrine for Sick Relatives and Friends

O great Saint Peregrine,
you have been called,
"The Mighty", "The Wonder Worker",
because of the numerous miracles
which you obtained from God
for those who have turned to you in their need.
For so many years,
you bore in your own flesh this cancerous disease
that destroys the very fiber of our being.
You turned to God when the power of human beings
could do no more,
and you were favored with the vision of Jesus
coming down from His Cross to heal your affliction.
I now ask God to heal these sick persons whom I entrust to you:
(Here mention their names).
Aided by your powerful intercession,
I shall sing with Mary a hymn of gratitude to God
for His great goodness and mercy.
Amen.

Shocked and Confused

**I was shocked, confused, bewildered**
**as I entered Heaven's door,**
**Not by the beauty of it all,**
**by the lights or its decor.**

**But it was the folks in Heaven**
**who made me sputter and gasp--**
**the thieves, the liars, the sinners,**
**the alcoholics, the trash.**

**There stood the kid from seventh grade**
**who swiped my lunch money twice.**
**Next to him was my old neighbor**
**who never said anything nice.**

**Herb, who I always thought**
**was rotting away in hell,**
**was sitting pretty on cloud nine,**
**looking incredibly well.**

**I nudged Jesus, "What's the deal?**
**I would love to hear Your take.**
**How'd all these sinners get up here?**
**God must've made a mistake.**

**And why's everyone so quiet,**
**so somber?  Give me a clue."**
**"Hush, child," said He.  "They're all in shock.**
**No one thought they'd see you."**

**Judge NOT...***

~Be kind.  We're all in this together.~

Verse of the Day

"For I am not ashamed of the gospel; it is the power of God for salvation to everyone who has faith, to the Jew first and also to the Greek. For in it the righteousness of God is revealed through faith for faith; as it is written, 'The one who is righteous will live by faith.'”

Romans 1:16-17

The Eyes of Love

A grandmother and a little girl whose face was sprinkled with bright red freckles spent the day at the zoo.  The children were waiting in line to get their cheeks painted by a local artist who was decorating them with tiger paws.

'You've got so many freckles, there's no place to paint!' a boy in the line cried.

Embarrassed, the little girl dropped her head. Her grandmother knelt down next to her. 'I love your freckles,' she said.

'Not me,' the girl replied.

'Well, when I was a little girl I always wanted freckles,' she said, tracing her finger across the child's cheek. 'Freckles are beautiful!'

The girl looked up. 'Really?'

'Of course,' said the grandmother. 'Why, just name me one thing that's prettier than freckles.'

The little girl peered into the old woman's smiling face. 'Wrinkles,' she answered softly.

May 6 - Jesus Calling

Do not search for security in the world you inhabit. You tend to make mental checklists of things you need to do in order to gain control of your life. If only you could check everything off your list, you could relax and be at peace. But the more you work to accomplish that goal, the more things crop up on your list. The harder you try, the more frustrated you become.

There is a better way to find security in this life. Instead of scrutinizing your checklist, focus your attention on My Presence with you. This continual contact with Me will keep you in My Peace. Moreover, I will help you sort out what is important and what is not, what needs to be done now and what does not. Fix your eyes not on what is seen (your circumstances), but on what is unseen (My Presence).

You will keep him in perfect peace, whose mind is stayed on You, because he trusts in You.
—Isaiah 26:3 nkjv

So we fix our eyes not on what is seen, but on what is unseen. For what is seen is temporary, but what is unseen is eternal.
—2 Corinthians 4:18

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

God Gloria that sounds like a terrible experience.

I'll be praying that it all turns out well and you do not have to go through that again.

Gloria, glad to hear things are going well for Darla and babies.  July 17 will be here before you know it. I'm glad they're "summer" babies.  Mine were all born in winter and had colds and sniffles while very tiny.  Plus we had to drive to the hospital in a snowstorm for baby number 3.

Hope your eye procedure is successful.

blessings to all...marmot

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

marmot24 - Guess it's a good thing they will be summer babies.  Darla was, born August 3rd, 1973.  Lori was born in Feb. 18 months apart.  It was a nice Feb. morning when we drove to the hospital.  Scary for you to have to go in a snowstorm!

Thanks - I do hope that procedure is successful.  Have to take eye drops four times a day for a couple weeks.  The drops have some steriods in them, the pharmisist said.
