Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hello my friends! Today was busy - did some errands, his brother and wife gave us some onions, potatoes and some beets from their garden, we were there for a while this afternoon, so tonight I chopped up onions in the food processor and froze them in bags, 1 cup each.  Got 9 cups!  That will be handy to use for hot dishes or soups etc. that calls for chopped onions.  So I was thinking, why not chop my celery too and freeze it?  Can't see why not.  I'll probably do that tomorrow.

That would sure save time in making dishes.  I also have the beet leaves, so I washed them, and they will get chopped up too in the food processor and mix in with kale and some spinach to put in soups, hot dishes etc.  Yesterday when I made my homemade mac and cheese I added some chopped kale in it, and it was so good!  At my house we had beets, spinach and kale in the garden plus some collards, which I used too, and also chives. Miss my garden! I'd have potatoes by now to dig too, I loved digging potatoes!

Darla and Greg had someone there today who feed the twins.  I posted another picture of them on the last thread at the end.

God gives abundantly to those who pass His gifts on to others.  Lord, let
Your blessings flow in to me and then out from me.  I will neither be selfish
nor let my gifts stagnate.

"It is God's will that by doing right you should silence the ignorance
of the foolish.  As servants of God, live as free people, yet do not use
your freedom as a pretext for evil.  Honor everyone."  ~1 Peter 2:15-17

Each new days brings an opportunity to do some little thing that will
help to make a better world, that will bring God's kingdom a little
nearer to being realized on earth.  We can take each day's happenings as
opportunities for something we can do for God.  In that spirit, a
blessing will attend all that we do.  When we offer this day's service
to God, we are sharing in God's work.  We do not have to do great
things.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that today I may do the next thing, the unselfish thing, the
loving thing.  I pray that I may be content with doing small things as
long as they are right.

Prayer to St. Anthony for Those Suffering with Cancer

Dear St. Anthony, you recognized Our Lord Jesus as the Divine Healer. In your goodness and kindness, please intercede for (mention name) who is suffering from cancer.

If it is God's will, I ask that this day, the gift of healing be granted to (name). Comfort him/her during times of unbearable pain, and ask our Lord to grant him/her peace and patience in suffering.

May God give (name) the fullness of life here on earth, or call him/her home to eternal glory forever. Amen.

Do it Today

In a class I teach for adults, I gave the assignment to "go
to someone you love, and tell them that you love them." At the
beginning of the next class, one of the students began by saying, "I
was angry with you last week when you gave us this assignment. I
didn't feel I had anyone to say those words to. But as I began driving
home my conscience started talking. Then I knew exactly who I
needed to say `I love you' to.

Five years ago, my father and I had a vicious disagreement and never
really resolved it. We avoided seeing each other unless we absolutely
had to at family gatherings. We hardly spoke. So by the time I got
home, I had convinced myself I was going to tell my father I loved him.
"Just making that decision seemed to lift a heavy load off my chest.

"At 5:30, I was at my parents' house ringing the doorbell, praying that
Dad would answer the door. I was afraid if Mom answered, I would
chicken out and tell her instead. But as luck would have it, Dad did
answer the door. "I didn't waste any time - I took one step in the door
and said, `Dad, I just came over to tell you that I love you.' "It was as
if a transformation came over my dad. Before my eyes his face
softened, the wrinkles seemed to disappear and he began to cry. He
reached out and hugged me and said, `I love you too, son, but I've
never been able to say it.' "But that's not even my point. Two days
after that visit, my dad had a heart attack and is in the hospital. I don't
even know if he'll make it. "So my message to all of you is this: Don't
wait to do the things you know need to be done. What if I had waited
to tell my dad? Take the time to do what you need to do and do it
now!"

GOOD ADVICE TO LIVE BY
Author Unknown

If you want your dreams to come true, don't oversleep.

The smallest good deed is better than the grandest intention.

Of all the things you wear, your expression is the most important.

The best vitamin for making friends....B1.

The 10 commandments are not multiple choice.

The happiness of your life depends on the quality of your thoughts.

Minds are like parachutes...they function only when open.

Ideas won't work unless YOU do.

One thing you can't recycle is wasted time.

One who lacks the courage to start has already finished.

The heaviest thing to carry is a grudge.

Don't learn safety rules by accident.

We lie the loudest when we lie to ourselves.

Jumping to conclusions can be bad exercise.

A turtle makes progress when it sticks it's head out.

One thing you can give and still keep...is your word.

A friend walks in when everyone else walks out.

AND FINALLY...

The pursuit of happiness is the chase of a lifetime!!!

A minister and a soap maker went for a walk together.

The soap maker said, "What good is religion? Look at all the trouble
and misery of the world! Still there, even after years -- thousands
of years -- of teaching about goodness and truth and peace. Still
there, after all the prayers and sermons and teachings. If religion
is good and true, why should this be?"

The minister said nothing.

They continued walking until he noticed a child playing in the gutter.

Then the minister said, "Look at that child. You say that soap makes
people clean, but see the dirt on that youngster. Of what good is
soap? With all the soap in the world, over all these years, the child
is still filthy. I wonder how effective soap is, after all!"

The soap maker protested. "But, soap cannot do any good unless it is applied!"

"Exactly!" replied the minister.

Do not merely listen to the word, and so deceive yourselves. Do what it
says. Anyone who listens to the word but does not do what it says is like
a man who looks at his face in a mirror and, after looking at himself,
goes away and immediately forgets what he looks like. But the man who
looks intently into the perfect law that gives freedom, and continues
to do this, not forgetting what he has heard, but doing it --
he will be blessed in what he does.
James 1:22-25

July 15 - Jesus Calling

Do not worry about tomorrow! This is not a suggestion, but a command. I divided time into days and nights, so that you would have manageable portions of life to handle. My grace is sufficient for you, but its sufficiency is for only one day at a time. When you worry about the future, you heap day upon day of troubles onto your flimsy frame. You stagger under this heavy load, which I never intended you to carry.

Throw off this oppressive burden with one quick thrust of trust. Anxious thoughts meander about and crisscross in your brain, but trusting Me brings you directly into My Presence. As you thus affirm your faith, shackles of worry fall off instantly. Enjoy My Presence continually by trusting Me at all times.

“Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.”
-Matthew 6:34

But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly about my weaknesses, so that Christ’s power may rest on me.
-2 Corinthians 12:9

Trust in Him at all times, you people; pour out your heart before Him; God is a refuge for us.
-Psalm 62:8 nkjv

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Ladies, you make my day!  Thank you for your prayers and thoughts.  Many challenges but taking things one step at a time and making changes where I can.  Thank you!

Gloriajean, those girls are so sweet and just perfection!  Thank you for sharing your miracles with us all.  Prayers for Darla are coming.  She is loved and gave life to those little angels, God is with her and will take care of her.  I will continue to pray for her.  Let her know we all care!

Off to the museum today and bet we will be busy!  Love meeting all the visitors.  Had a fun 12 year old boy on tour yesterday and he was a delight and just fun!  He even bought the book "Little Women" to read which is huge for a boy!  Austin, was his name and he was from Ohio so just hope he enjoys the book.

Ladies, have a blessed day and may all the ordinary miracles of our day surround us and fill us with joy, love and peace and we pass along to others!  thank you.

Peace, Nancy
