Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hello my friends!  Just got home! We stayed overnight at Darla's, came home in the morning for a few hours, came back in the afternoon and stayed until now.  Her blood pressure is still high, but she's watching out for signs like headaches, swelling of the feet, blurring vision etc. which could be signs of preeclampsia.  Her mother-in-law is staying with her tonight - and Greg comes home later - around 2 AM.  We had a nice visit with her, and we did some jobs for her so she didn't have to.  My husband even cooked supper for us!  Cod, baked potato and some veggies.  Thanks for your prayers for her, we surely appreciate it!  God bless you all!

It is far wiser to ask God for what He thinks is good for us, than for what
we think is good for us.  Lord, Your Will not mine be done.

"I believe; help my unbelief!"  ~Mark 9:24

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y

"I believe; help my unbelief!"  This cry of the human heart is an
expression of human frailty.  It signifies the soul's sincere desire for
progress.  As we feel the existence of God and God's power, we can
believe in God more and more.  At the same time, we can be more
conscious of our falling short of absolute trust in God.  The soul's
progress is an increasing belief, then a cry for more faith, a plea to
conquer all unbelief, all lack of trust.  We can believe that this cry
is heard by God and that this prayer is answered in due time.  And so
our faith can grow, little by little, day by day.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that with more power in my life will come more faith.  I pray
that I may come to trust God more each day.

Who's the Teacher?

When I look at a patch of dandelions, I see a bunch of weeds that are
going to take over my yard. My kids see flowers for Mom and blowing
white fluff, you can wish on.

When I look at an old drunk and he smiles at me, I see a smelly, dirty
person who probably wants money and I look away. My kids see someone
smiling at them and they smile back.

When I hear music I love, I know I can't carry a tune and don't have
much rhythm so I sit self consciously and listen. My kids feel the beat
and move to it. They sing out the words. If they don't know them, they
make up their own.

When I feel wind on my face, I brace myself against it. I feel it
messing up my hair and pulling me back when I walk. My kids close their
eyes, spread their arms and fly with it, until they fall to the ground
laughing.

When I pray I say thee and thou and grant me this, give me that. My kids
say, "Hi God!!! Thanks for my toys and my friends. Please keep the bad
dreams away tonight. Sorry, I don't want to go to Heaven yet. I would
miss my Mommy and Daddy."

When I see a mud puddle I step around it. I see muddy shoes and clothes
and dirty carpets. My kids sit in it. They see dams to build, rivers to
cross and worms to play with.

I wonder if we are given kids to teach or to learn from? No wonder God
loves the little children!!

WHAT LOVE MEANS

Love means being a friend,
but it's deeper than that.

Love means sharing a load,
but it's stronger than that.

Love means staying nearby,
but it's closer than that.

Love means giving one's all -
and JESUS did that!

Working at the museum today and my guess is we will be busy. Always love days like that, meet a lot of great people.

I pray that everyone has a great day, filled with joy, love and peace. Gloriajean, thank you for the time you take to post this lovely thread.  Makes my day and to all those who read this, nice to have this new collection of friends.  Thank you

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hi! Don't wish to be a bother but was wondering if anyone has ever decided to live a simpler life and if so, how did you go about starting?  I have been thinking about not only decluttering my life but really making things simpler. Any thoughts, stories etc would be helpful. Thank you!

I should begin by not shopping QVC any longer!

Peace, Nancy

[ Edited ]

@nj, I live alone in a 1400 sq. ft. ranch home with a living room, dining room, kitchen, 2 bedrooms, and 2 bathrooms. When I retired I wanted to simplify my life, I did one room at a time and took everything I no longer needed or used to Goodwill. I have never felt better. My basement and garage are virtually empty except for neccessities. Cleaning and organization are now a breeze. I think people often try to do everything at once, become overwhelmed and then give up. I would  reward myself after completing a room which added motivation. By rewarding I mean simple things like some fresh flowers, a special coffee drink, going out for breakfast...I feel that I have now earned the privilege to do what I want, when I want, and have been going on senior tours which I enjoy tremendously. I wish you well.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Good morning ladies, awesome threads as always.  I'm a newbie, as my sons would say, so don't know the lingo or anything about this except just learned how to post - yikes!!

I have been reading some of the blogs and forums for a couple of months and have been so inspired with the daily positive thread and shopaholics I just had to join the community.

Thank you all so much for your inspiration and kind words.

We too have downsized and simplified our lives with our children grown and on their own.  My husband has gone part-time after retiring from his longtime engineering job.  We decided to move to a small town, live in a small house and I have just recently decided to declutter big time and make boosting our savings account a priority.  It is a process for sure and there will be setbacks, but I am determined to continue on this path.

I wish I would have started sooner, but can't look back, it does nothing but frustrate.

A wish of luck with your journey.

Prayers to all!  Have a wonderful weekend each of you and make the best of the sad parts of your schedule and the happy ones.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Hi! Thanks for the suggestion and personal experiences. I live in an apartment and have moved 2x recently so was able to really go through my belongings and gave away a lot or just tossed. Felt good but I do have a few more things to do.  I also need and want to begin just buying what I really need not shop on a whim- retail therapy!  Going to be challenging but must do that. I have stuff and really, only brought me happiness ever so briefly.  Enough!

I hope you are all having a wonderful day.  Absolutely lovely here in MA and we were really busy at the museum I work at.  Fun!

Be well, many blessings and Peace, Nancy

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Gloria, how does Darla plan to tell the girls apart?  I heard some use nail ploish on one of their big toes.  I guess a mother knows her child.  It is interesting however.  She is keeping cool I hope.  She will deliver soon and then the fun starts.  May God keep Darla and the babies safe and healthy.  Amen.  Keep cool Gloria....

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Saturday

Nancy, we're not worried, it's all in God's hands, and we've been praying and we trust that God will answer our prayers.  He won't let us down.

It makes my day to see everyone's posts here!  I do wish the Q would allow me to post my email address here again, I was able to in the past.  Moderators, can I again?
