Hello my friends! Hope your weekend is off to a good start!! Ours is, today was preparing for friends over tomorrow for supper, starting at 4:00 for cocktails and visiting and dinner at 5. I already made the spareribs and sauerkraut so all I need to do tomorrow is heat it up, then I'll make some mashed potatoes, some veggies and starting with a good salad. Have some cake for dessert. My dear husband did the vaccuuming - our apartment is mostly carpet! Lots more carpet than our house had. I did manage a nap this afternoon and that was a blessing too!!!
As we help those in need or comfort those in trouble, God's great love and divine
glory is revealed to the world. Lord, I am Your servant. May others know more
of You through me.

"Everyone then who hears these words of mine and acts on them will be like a
wise man who built his house on rock. The rain fell, the floods came, and
the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had
been founded on rock." ~Matthew 7:24-25

Every strong and beautiful flower must have a strong root in the ground. It
can send a root down so that it may be rooted and grounded while at the same
time it sends a shoot up to be the flower that gladdens the world. Both
growths are necessary. Without a strong root, it would soon wither. The
higher the growth upward, the deeper must be the rooting. My life cannot
flower into success and helpfulness unless it is rooted in a strong faith. I
can feel deeply secure in the goodness and purpose of the universe.
P R A Y E R F O R T H E D A Y
I pray that my life may be deeply rooted in faith. I pray that I may feel
deeply secure.
The Expectant Mother's Prayer
O God our Father, through the Blessed Virgin Mary you have glorified motherhood in the virgin birth of Your Son, Jesus Christ, and You have raised up as an example to wives and mothers Your servant, St. Elizabeth Ann Seton. Grant me, I pray You, the grace to imitate her by accepting as Your charge and as an heir to heaven the child that is to be born of me. Bless, dear Lord, this coming event with safety both to my child and to myself.
I also pray that the noble life of Mother Seton may always be a model to mothers.
The prayer so often on her lips will be always mind. With all my heart I repeat it:
"May the most high, the most just and the most holy Will of God be praised, adored and loved." Amen.

Hope For Tomorrow
- Mary Eileen Butera
Enjoy the sun while you have it,
Tomorrow you may face the rain.
Take joy in the present-day pleasures
So that you can handle the pain
That comes to us in are life time
As surely as day becomes night.
Understand we often have good times
That help keep our spirits bright.
So when we have serious problems
And the world seems so very gray,
Remember that things will get better
And there will be a better day.
There is always hope for tomorrow
No matter how deep the pain,
From storms that swirl all around us
Life will surely be brighter again.
"A time to weep, and a time to laugh; a time to mourn, and a time to dance." Ecclesiastes 3:4
As believers in Jesus Christ, we know that our lives have seasons consisting of ups and downs. Whether our season is joy, or sadness, each season should motivate us to seek the Lord and trust Him.
Trust God! He is always leading us. He knows what we need, before we even get there.
Dear Lord Jesus, help us to turn to You not only in sadness but also in joy. We know You give us both good times and bad to draw us to You and help us grow. May we learn to trust You in all seasons of life. In your precious name, Amen.
New Year Alphabet
Almighty Creator of the Universe,
Beloved Father, God,
Create in me a clean heart this new year.
Deliver me from the temptations of the ego.
Exalt your presence in my mind.
Forgive all that I have held against you, myself and others.
Grant me peace this day and this new year.
Hold me steadfastly within the boundaries of your truth.
Inspire my heart to know you, my ears to hear you, and my eyes to recognize you.
Justify me in the presence of all enemies.
Knead my heart with words of kindness.
Let no harm befall me or my loved ones.
May all I do this day glorify you.
Nourish me with your wisdom.
Open my mind to know your truth.
Purge my heart of all things that are offensive to your law.
Quiet my soul in the midst of confusion.
Renew my connection to you.
Save me from evil influences.
Teach me to trust you at all times.
Use all that you have given me to serve you.
Victory for your cause is my desire.
Walk with me so that my strength will never be diminished.
eXamine my heart continually.
Your love and grace are my good fortune.
Zealously I commit myself to your will forever.
From Patrick Carnevale
Today's readings 1/8/16
1Jn.5:5-13; Ps.147:12-15, 19-20; Lk.5:12-16
In order for us to "possess the Son" the way St.John describes we need to believe that He really is the Son of God, and that's why the "testimony of the three" our saint refers to is so important to our faith. Once we know and believe who Jesus is we have truly taken "possession" of Him, but the next step in the "testimony" process is just as important. We need to understand that our faith in Him makes us children of God, and once we believe that Truth we have taken possession of ourselves, and that's just as important as possessing Jesus. These are two very important steps in our journey of faith and are critical when it comes to the third and final "testimony" in gaining the Eternal life we hear about today. Knowing who Jesus is and who we are has to change us when we apply all that knowledge to the way we live, we see that in the boldness of the leper in today's Gospel, and the results of his actions set him free to be the person God created him to be. We all know who Jesus is, for the most part we all know who and Whose we are as well, I can only hope and pray that we've applied that knowledge to the way we live the same way the leper did.
God bless you,
In Jesus - Pat
January 8 - Jesus Calling
Softly I announce My presence. Shimmering hues of radiance tap gently at your consciousness, seeking entrance. Though I have all Power in heaven and on earth, I am infinitely tender with you. The weaker you are, the more gently I approach you. Let your weakness be a door to My Presence. Whenever you feel inadequate, remember that I am your ever-present Help.
Hope in Me, and you will be protected from depression and self-pity. Hope is like a golden cord connecting you to heaven. The more you cling to this cord, the more I bear the weight of your burdens; thus, you are lightened. Heaviness is not of My kingdom. Cling to hope, and My rays of Light will reach you through the darkness.
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble.
—Psalm 46:1
Be joyful in hope, patient in affliction, faithful in prayer.
—Romans 12:12
May the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace as you trust in him, so that you may overflow with hope by the power of the Holy Spirit.
—Romans 15:13
