Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Hello my friends!  Beautiful Day here today, beautiful Mass, a couple celebrated their 50th Wedding Anniversary at Mass today, they got a special blessing, Father made the Mass really special for them.  Didn't go out at all today after that, after brunch, took a nap and just took the day easy, busy week ahead. Long day tomorrow, Pray I stay healthy and not get sick, they need me!  Yes! I feel so needed!

When you can't fall asleep, spend the time talking with God and in prayer

you will soon be sleeping.  Lord, next to Your heart, what a safe and restful

place to sleep.

"Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them."
~Matthew 18:20

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y

"Where two or three are gathered in my name, I am there among them."
The spirit of God can come upon God's followers when they are all together
at one time, in one place, and with one accord.  When two or three
consecrated souls are together at a meeting place, the spirit of God is there to
help and guide them.  Where any sincere group of people are together,
reverently seeking the help of God, God's power and God's spirit are there to
inspire them.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y

I pray that I may be in accord with the members of my group.  I pray
that I may feel the strength of a consecrated group.

God Works Through People

They tell the story about an elderly lady who was upset because she had lost
her sense of the presence of God. She told this problem to her lady friend
who was visiting one day.

The visitor advised, "Pray to God, Brigid. Ask him to touch you, and he will
put his hand on you."

Old Brigid began to pray right then and there when suddenly she felt a hand
on her shoulder. She cried out in joy, "he has touched me. " Then she added,
"But, do you know, it felt just like your hand."

Her friend said, "sure and it was my hand. What did you think God would do?
Did you think he'd stick a long arm out of heaven to touch you? He just took
the hand which was nearest and he used that."

SLOW ME DOWN, LORD

Slow me down, Lord.

Ease the pounding of my heart by the quieting of my mind.
Steady my hurried pace with a vision of the eternal reach of time.
Give me, amidst the confusion of my day,
the calmness of everlasting hills.
Break the tensions of my nerves with the soothing music
of the singing streams that live in my memory.
Help me know the magical restoring power of sleep.
Teach me the art of taking minute vacations of slowing down,
to look at a flower,
to chat with an old friend or make a new one,
to pat a stray dog,
to watch a spider build a web,
to smile at a child, or to read from a good book.
Remind me each day that the race is not always to the swift,
that there is more to life than increasing its speed.
Let me look upward at the towering oak and know that it
grew great and strong because it grew slowly and well. Amen.

I Meet God

I meet God in the morning

And go with him through the day,

Then in the stillness of the night

Before sleep comes I pray

That God will just take over

All the problems I couldn't solve

And in the peacefulness of sleep

My cares will all dissolve,

So when I open up my eyes

To greet another day

I'll find myself renewed in strength

And there'll open up a way

To meet what seemed impossible

For me to do alone

And once again I'll be assured

I am never on my own.

God Needs Our Hands

At the end of World War II a group of soldiers offered to help the people of a destroyed village in any way they could. But instead of asking for food, money, or farm equipment, the townsmen asked for help in restoring a statue. For years their proudest possession had been a statue of Christ in their own town square. Now it lay shattered into many pieces. Could the soldiers help put it together again?

It was a difficult task, chips and pieces lay all over the square. Finally the statue was repaired except for two missing parts that the soldiers could not find. Finished, they covered the statue with a silken parachute, so that it could be unveiled in a ceremony before the townspeople, even though it was incomplete.

On the occasion the mayor of the town gave a speech and pulled the cord of the silken drape... It dropped from the statue, showing a Christ without hands.

At first the townspeople were shocked. Then they looked down at a sign which the soldiers had put at the feet of the statue. It said: "I have no hands. Won't you please lend me yours?"

Invocation of the Blessed Virgin in Time of Temptation

Haste, my Mother, run to help me;
Mother, haste, do not delay;
      See from Hell the envious serpent
           Comes my troubling soul to slay.
      Ah! his very look affrights me,
           And his cruel rage I fear;
      Whither fly, if he attacks me?
           See him, see him coming near!
      Lo! I faint away with terror,
           For if yet thou dost delay,
      He will dart at me his venom;
           Then, alas! I am his prey.

Cries and tears have nought availed me,
Spite of all, I see him there;
Saints I call till I am weary,
    Still he stands with threat'ning air.
Now his mighty jaws are open,
    And his forked tongue I see;
Ah! he coils to spring upon me.
-----Mother! hasten, make him flee.
Mary! yes, the name of Mary
    Strikes with dread my cruel foe,
Straight he flees, as from the sunbeam
    Swiftly melts the winter's snow.
Now he's gone, but do thou ever
    Stay beside me, Mother dear;
Then the hellish fiend to tempt me
Nevermore will venture near.

August 14 - Jesus Calling

I am yours for all eternity. I am the Alpha and the Omega: the One who is and was and is to come. The world you inhabit is a place of constant changes—more than your mind can absorb without going into shock. Even the body you inhabit is changing relentlessly, in spite of modern science’s attempts to prolong youth and life indefinitely. I, however, am the same yesterday and today and forever.

Because I never change, your relationship with Me provides a rock-solid foundation for your life. I will never leave your side. When you move on from this life to the next, My Presence beside you will shine brighter with each step. You have nothing to fear, because I am with you for all time and throughout eternity.

“I am the Alpha and the Omega,” says the Lord God, “who is, and who was, and who is to come, the Almighty.”
—Revelation 1:8

Jesus Christ is the same yesterday and today and forever.
—Hebrews 13:8

In the beginning you laid the foundations of the earth, and the heavens are the work of your hands. They will perish, but you remain; they will all wear out like a garment. Like clothing you will change them and they will be discarded. But you remain the same, and your years will never end.
—Psalm 102:25–27

For this God is our God for ever and ever; he will be our guide even to the end.
—Psalm 48:14

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Happy Monday to all!  50 years is pretty wonderful.  My parents just celebrated their 60th anniversary and still cannot believe it.  Good times!

Lovely Mass for me also. Love being with old friends and some new ones.  Kind of odd though, even after 5 years of attending this church, I still miss my old one. I can get there from time to time since it is only 30 minutes away.  I like my new church but still am pulled to the other one.  Anyway, lovely Mass and being with friends in Gods presence.

Museum day for me.  The week is a nice mixture of the museum and down time.  Need to get some things done before school begins in one week. So, busy week but all good.

Have a nice day and may it be filled with joy, ordinary miracles and peace.

Peace, Nancy

3suwm5 - Two years ago we had our 50th Anniversary Mass with my cousin, Father Jerry, presiding, and it was very special too!! I will never forget it.  Family and friends came to our house and garage for the day. Beautiful day - and my daughter, Darla, made a beautful scrapbook for us on the wonderful event which we treasure!!!

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Nancy - great that your parents could celebrate 60 years of Marriage!! I hope and pray we will too and stay in good health, and see the twin grow up!  Maybe for you - you would like to alternate going to Mass at your other Church and this one, and see where you feel the best in.  With it being not that far away, you could do that.  Hope your museum day went well!!
