Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Hello my friends!  Back home now from spending Father's Day with Darla and Greg, his parents, and Lori!  Beautiful hot day, ending with a storm at night, we drove back with warnings, but it didn't look that bad, just rained but we did hear a siron!  Home safely, let Darla and Greg know we had no problem driving back.  My husband wanted to get home before dark, he doesn't like driving in the dark.  It was a nice day and he enjoyed it alot.

 

 

Deal with the shortcomings of those around you as gently as you would
your own.  Lord, help me to treat others as I want to be treated.

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y  

When we call on God in prayer to help us overcome weakness, sorrow,
pain, discord and conflict, God never fails in some way to answer our
appeal. When we are in need of strength for ourselves or for the help of
some other person we can call on God in prayer.  The power we need can
come simply, naturally, and forcefully.  We can pray to God not only
when we need help, but also just to commune with God.  The spirit of
prayer can alter an atmosphere from one of discord to one of
reconciliation.  It can raise the quality of thought and word and bring
order out of chaos.

P R A Y E R   F O R   T H E   D A Y  

I pray that I may bring peace where there is discord.  I pray that I may
bring conciliation where there is conflict.

WHAT'S IN YOUR SPONGE?

There are 5 sponges laying on your kitchen counter top. Each member of
your  family has been cleaning up different areas of your home, but
all the  sponges look the same. You are curious as to what was cleaned
in your home,  but you can't tell by looking...they all look the
same....so what do you do?

You squeeze each sponge to see what comes out. As you squeeze the
first  sponge, you see that cola comes out, and so you decide that
someone cleaned  the kitchen with that one. Upon squeezing the second
sponge, you find tub and tile cleaner - that one was used to clean the
bathroom.

Next, in the third sponge, you find motor oil -- hubby was cleaning
the garage!

In the fourth sponge, baby powder puffs out when it is squeezed -- yep
the baby's nursery was done with that one!

And finally, in the last one, is floor wax -- that was the one you
used on the hall floor!

As you lay the last one down, you look again at their similarity - and
they all look the same until they're squeezed.

Christians are the same way. As life squeezes us, different things
come out - anger from one, a need for revenge from another, tears from
one, remorse from yet another - also greed, untruth, lust - and
finally, from one saint,  pours forth the love of Christ.
Just like the sponge, we can only squeeze out what is put in - stay in
the Word daily, and be in continuous prayer, so that when life puts
the squeeze  on you (and it WILL), Jesus, and Jesus ALONE will shine
forth from you!

In the first reading, St. Paul seems to be singing his own praises. This was because he loved his catechumens so much and he was protecting them from those who would try to preach to them another gospel. The true teacher of faith is very protective of his disciples or converts because he feels responsible for their spiritual well-being. He has preached the Good News to them with no ulterior motive except to help them to receive salvation in Jesus Christ. Now he must make sure that they are not side-tracked in their desire for holiness. We are also called to be responsible for those who are under us – at home, in the workplace, in the parish, etc. We are called to be responsible for others, esp. those in need of our guidance and love.

As St. Paul was a spiritual father to his disciples and converts, we are also called to be “father” to others. But before everything else, we must truly believe that God is our Father. We must have experienced the loving and providential care of God in order to be able to pray the Our Father. We must also believe that God is aware of all that happens to us and is taking care of us even if things do not seem to be going very smoothly.

If God is our Father, then surely he wants us to be happy as all fathers would like to happen to their children. Also, a child of God desires that God be truly worshipped and adored. He has experienced God’s forgiveness for his sins and so he shares this forgiveness with others. He wants others to experience the fatherhood of God.

Jesus Calling

June 19

“I AM THE FIRM FOUNDATION on which you can dance and sing and celebrate My Presence.  This is My high and holy calling for you; receive it as a precious gift.  Glorifying and enjoying Me is a higher priority than maintaining a tidy, structured life.  Give up your striving to keep everything under control – an impossible task and a waste of precious energy.

Hope everyone had a nice Sunday.  Gloriajean, happy to hear your eye is better. Hope it continues that way!  Lovely Sunday seeing a friend and then quiet time at home reading and being with my cats.  Favorite way to spend a day.  Blessings!

Today is just getting things done for a quick trip tomorrow to see my family.  I do not do well going away so this has caused me some anxiety. Love my parents, brother, sister in law but i worry about a ton of things. A friend is staying to look after my cats which helps my anxiety. While I know you all have so many things to pray for and they are all so major but if you have a little extra space for a pray, please help me lessen my anxiety and that my cats so fine with my friend.  Thank you! I know it is all silly and I am trying to get over this for sure but a lifetime of worry.  All will be fine and seeing my family is such a gift.  5 hour drive but all highway and will be nice.

Take care and I wish you all joy, happiness, peace and a day filled with those ordinary miracles God gives us each and everyday.

Hope all the Dads had a great Father's Day.

 

Nancy it isn't silly to worry about your pets when you arn't there.

I worry about mine even if  we are away just for a little while during the day.

As far as we are concerned they are family and we love them dearly.

Thank you Harlene! I truly appreciate your response and understanding. I never had kids so these are my babies and both have some medical stuff going on.  My pet sitter/friend is wonderful so that is some peace of mind.  Thank you!

All done my errands, packing and cleaning so just will do little things around the apartment and enjoy the time.  Have a wonderful day.

Good morning to all,

 

It is such a lovely morning. The power has been off a few hours this morning, just came back on a bit ago. I drove to McDonald's for breakfast and while listening to the radio, the morning host said the weather was trying to kill us later in the week. Hot temps are forecast. I got a kick out of just the way she said, the weather is trying to kill us.  LOL. 

 

On my way home, I saw something red in the road. I thought it was a piece of cloth but as I got closer, it was a dead cardinal, or as we say here, a red bird. I'd noticed that a bird was flying back and forth before I got so close, I realized it was her mate dead in the road. I know they mate for life so I thought to myself, she's trying to help him or does she know he is dead. Animals mourn just as a humans do. 

 

I should get busy, chores to do, fun, fun, fun. LOL

GloriaJean, thanks for the scriptures today, beautiful.

 

Sounds like we all had a good, relaxing weekend.

 

We tried a new restaurant and enjoyed our seafood dinners.  Talked with our boys yesterday, both are doing well, so no new worries for Mom and Dad, thankfully.  Oldest is stressed about his defense scheduled for July, he'll do fine. He's finishing his PhD in Material Engineering.  Youngest getting a new account to handle by himself, he's excited.  He's a computer analyst.  Very proud Mom and Dad of both of them.

 

Overcast this morning, so not so hot yet today.  Hope to get out on the deck and do some reading before I exercise in the basement.

 

Then get some work done around the house and line up some dinner.  Always plenty of work to be done.

Nancy - have a safe trip!  5 hours alone is a long way!  The kitties will be fine, but it's not silly to be concerned.  You are lucky you found someone capable.

Lucy - never heard of that expression "The weather is trying to kill us!" Wow!  Be careful in those high temps.  Good thing we have AC .

I think of the times we didn't on the farm, and had fans going. 

 

Poor Cardinal! Funny how he got hit when he could fly above eveything. I have yet to see any this summer.  Loved seeing them at our feeders.  That's in the past now.

gcubed - you have some good sons there!  Good to be proud of them being what God has intended for them to do.  My daughter, Darla, has a PHD in Human Resources. She teaches at the University here. She'll take the Fall semester off, taking care of her twins.  Are your boys single yet?
