Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Hello my friends!  We all special blessings from God.  There is no doubt.  Today's blessings were that I heard that my sister, Erma, is home, and is doing well, and my nephew, Randy, who had open heart surgery, is doing well also. He's in the Mayo Clinic.  In the operation, they also found a leakage the heart valve so that got fixed too.  He is very happy with the Mayo Clinic, the doctor, the nurses, all are very good to him, compared to the other hospital he was in he said.  May all your blessings continue day by day and God bless you!

They are wise who depend on God.  Lord, Your perfect law revives my soul.
Keeping Your law makes me rich.

"No one after lighting a lamp hides it under a jar, or puts it under a
bed, but puts it on a lamp stand, so that those who enter may see the
light." The glory of the Lord shines in the beauty of our character.  It
is risen in us, even though we can realize it only in part.  "Now you
see as in a glass darkly, but later we will see face to face."  The
glory of the Lord is too dazzling for mortals to see fully on earth.
But some of God's glory is risen in us when we try to reflect that light
in our lives.

I pray that I may try to be a reflection of God's light.  I pray that
some of its rays may shine in my life.

What Satan Fears Most

What Satan fears most
Is a man on his knees;
Not vast marching armies
With great weaponry.

He knows he can stand
Against the power of men;
To engage us in battle
Is mere sport to him.

But a man on his knees
With his head bowed in prayer
Is something quite different
To the prince of the air.

For when he sees us in prayer
To our God most high,
He knows we have seen
Through his devilish lies.

That's why Satan fears most
A man on his knees;
And we'll keep him trembling
If our prayers never cease.

GARBAGE TRUCK

How often do you let other people's nonsense change your mood? Do you
let a bad driver, rude waiter, curt boss, or an insensitive employee
ruin your day? Unless you're the Terminator, for an instant you're
probably set back
on your heels. However, the mark of a successful person is how quickly
she can get back her focus on what's important.

Sixteen years ago I learned this lesson. I learned it in the back of a
New York City taxi cab. Here's what happened. I hopped in a taxi, and
we took off for Grand Central Station. We were driving in the right
lane when, all of a sudden, a black car jumped out of a parking space
right in front of us. My taxi driver slammed on his brakes,
skidded, and missed the other car’s back end by just inches!

The driver of the other car, the guy who almost caused a big accident,
whipped his head around and he started yelling bad words at us. My
taxi driver just smiled and waved at the guy. And I mean, he was
friendly. So,
I said, "Why did you just do that? This guy almost ruined your car and
sent us to the hospital!" And this is when my taxi driver told me what
I now call, "The Law of the Garbage Truck."

Many people are like garbage trucks. They run around full of garbage,
full of frustration, full of anger, and full of disappointment. As
their garbage piles up, they need a place to dump it. And if you let
them, they'll dump it on you. When someone wants to dump on you, don't
take it personally. You just smile, wave, wish them well, and move on.
You'll be happy you did.

So this was it: The "Law of the Garbage Truck.” I started thinking,
how often do I let Garbage Trucks run right over
me? And how often do I take their garbage and spread it to other
people a work, at home, on the streets? It was that day I said, "I'm
not going to do anymore." I began to see garbage trucks.

Like in the movie "The Sixth Sense," the little boy said, "I see Dead
People." Well, now "I see Garbage Trucks." I see the load they're
carrying. I see them coming to drop it off. And like my Taxi Driver, I
don't make it a personal thing; I just smile, wave, wish them well,
and move on.

One of my favorite football players of all time, Walter Payton, did
this every day on the football field. He would jump up as quickly as
he hit the ground after being tackled. He never dwelled on a hit.
Payton was ready to make the next play his best.

Good leaders know they have to be ready for their next meeting. Good
parents know that they have to welcome their children home from school
with hugs and kisses. Leaders and parents know that they have to be
fully present, and at their best for the people they care about. The
bottom line is that successful people do not let Garbage Trucks take
over their day. What about you? What would happen in your life,
starting today, if you let more garbage trucks pass you by? Here's my
bet. You'll be happier. Life's too short to wake up in the morning
with regrets, so.. Love the people who treat you right. Forget about
the ones who don't.

THE MONKEY WITH THE WOODEN APPLES
Author Unknown

There once was a happy monkey wandering the jungle, eating delicious
fruit when hungry, and resting when tired. One day he came upon a
house, where he saw a bowl of the most beautiful apples. He took one
in each hand and ran back into the forest.

He sniffed the apples and smelled nothing. He tried to eat them, but
hurt his teeth. They were made of wood, but they were beautiful, and
when the other monkeys saw them, he held onto them even tighter.

He admired his new possessions proudly as he wandered the jungle. They
glistened red in the sun, and seemed perfect to him. He became so
attached to them, that he didn't even notice his hunger at first.

A fruit tree reminded him, but he felt the apples in his hands.

He couldn't bear to set them down to reach for the fruit. In fact, he
couldn't relax, either, if he was to defend his apples. A proud, but
less happy monkey continued to walk along the forest trails.

The apples became heavier, and the poor little monkey thought about
leaving them behind. He was tired, hungry, and he couldn't climb trees
or collect fruit with his hands full. What if he just let go?

Letting go of such valuable things seemed crazy, but what else could
he do? He was so tired. Seeing the next fruit tree, and smelling it's
fruit was enough. He dropped the wooden apples and reached up for his
meal. He was happy again.

Letting Go Of Wooden Apples

Like that little monkey, we sometimes carry things that seem too
valuable to let go. A man carries an image of himself as "productive"
- carries it like a shiny wooden apple. But in reality, his busyness
leaves him tired, and hungry for a better life. Still, letting go
seems crazy. Even his worries are sacred apples - they prove he's
"doing everything he can." He holds onto them compulsively.

This is a hard thing to see. We identify so strongly with our things
even, feeling pain when our cars are dented. How much more powerfully
will God identify us with our Faith and God's commandments?? Have
you obeyed them ? but we have always searched after vain pleasures to
make us happy , Yet they don't always feed our souls, do they? And we
become tired of defending them.

How else could the story end?

The monkey might be found dead of hunger, under a beautiful tree, with
fruit within reach, but still grasping his wooden apples.

I chose to end it with him letting go, because only with open hands
can we receive anything , Ask God & He will give you more greater
riches.

Prayer for the Helpless Unborn

Heavenly Father, in Your love for us, protect against the wickedness of the devil, those helpless little ones to whom You have given the gift of life. Touch with pity the hearts of those women pregnant in our world today who are not thinking of motherhood.
Help them to see that the child they carry is made in Your image - as well as theirs  - made for eternal life. Dispel their fear and selfishness and give them true womanly hearts to love their babies and give them birth and all the needed care that a mother alone can give.
We ask this through Jesus  Christ, Your  Son, Our Lord, who lives and reigns with You and the Holy  Spirit, one God, forever and ever,  Amen.

June 5 - Jesus Calling

REMEMBER THAT YOU LIVE IN a fallen world: an abnormal world tainted by sin.  Much frustration and failure result from your seeking perfection in this life.  There is nothing perfect in this world except Me. That is why closeness to Me satisfies deep yearnings and fills you with joy.

I have planted longing for perfection in every human heart. This is a good desire, which I alone can fulfill. But most people seek this fulfillment in other people and earthly pleasures or achievements.  Thus they create idols, before which they bow down. I will have no other gods before Me! Make Me the deepest desire of your heart. Let Me fulfill your yearning for perfection.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Good morning! So happy to hear the news about Erma and your nephew.  I've heard wonderful things about the Mayo Clinic, glad he's there. We're supposed to get rain from Colin today and I'm thankful I don't have to go out. I know I'm a newbie here after my long absence, but I have three special people in my life who are in need of prayer today. If you're so inclined, I'd appreciate it. Prayers of safety to those in Colin's path.

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Good morning Harlene and Carolina!  Yes, so glad to hear that Erma is back home again, I think Randy has a long way to go yet with his open heart surgery, I don't know, but it was a success. Praise God.  Carolina, of course, we will pray for your intentions, praying for them now.  I'll pray the Memorare for them now:

REMEMBER, O most gracious Virgin Mary, that never was it known that anyone who fled to thy protection, implored thy help, or sought thy intercession was left unaided. Inspired with this confidence, I fly to thee, O Virgin of virgins, my Mother; to thee do I come; before thee I stand, sinful and sorrowful. O Mother of the Word Incarnate, despise not my petitions, but in thy mercy hear and answer me. Amen.
