Daily Positive Thread for Monday

Hello my friends!  Today I made a hotdish, bought a loaf of homemade bread from a bake sale at Church, and brought some cakes over to Darla's house, it went over very well!!  Being she's veg. the hotdish was made with Quorin brand name crumbles, made with soy beans, and mixed altogether with the macroni and spaghetti sauce etc, with onion and celery, it was delicious!

Today Linus helped Greg put their beautiful antique table together, and a futon. Washer and dryer hooked up, and the Christmas tree up and decorated, the girls did that, Lori was there too. We got our new priest today, Father David.  He seems very nice, and I'm looking forward to getting to know him better.

Not one day passes without receiving wonderful blessings from our loving
and generous God.  Lord, may I forget the irritations that distract me from
Your happiness.

"Seek the LORD while he may be found, call upon him while he is near."
~Isaiah 55:6

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y

God finds, amid the crowd, a few people who follow, just to be near God,
just to dwell in God's presence.  A longing in the eternal heart may be
satisfied by these few people.  I can let God know that I seek not just to
dwell in God's presence, to be near God, not so much for teaching or a
message, as just for God.  It can be that the longing of the human heart to
be loved for itself is something caught from the great divine heart.

I pray that I may have a listening ear, so that God may speak to me. I pray
that I may have a waiting heart, so that God may come to me.

SIGNS IN FRONT OF CHURCHES

The best vitamin for a Christian is B1.

Under same management for over 2,000 years.

Soul food served here.

Tithe if you love Jesus! Anyone can honk.

You can give without loving but you cannot love without
giving.

Beat the Christmas rush, come to church this Sunday!

Don't wait for the hearse to take you to church.

We should be more concerned with the Rock Of Ages, instead
of the age of rock.

Don't give up. Moses was once a basket case!

Come early for a good seat in the back.

Life has many choices, Eternity has two. What's yours?

Worry is interest paid on trouble before it is due.

A man's character is like a fence. It cannot be strengthened
by whitewash.

K-mart isn't the only saving place!

Preach the gospel at all times ... Use words only if
necessary.

Delay is preferable to error.

It's hard to stumble when you're on your knees.

What part of "THOU SHALT NOT" don't you understand?

A clear conscience makes a soft pillow.

The wages of sin is death. Repent before payday!

Never give the devil a ride. He will always want to drive.

Can't sleep? Try counting your blessings.

Forbidden fruit creates many jams.

May is God's apology for February.

To belittle is to be little.

Don't let the littleness in others bring out the littleness
in you.

God answers knee mail.

Try Jesus. If you don't like Him, the devil will always take
you back.

The Keys to Real Joy - Advent Day 15

Today marks Gaudete Sunday, the Sunday of rejoicing. How many of us spontaneously associate God and joy? In one sense, it is part of the tragedy of sin that we don’t. In our alienation from God, we experience him as judge, as distant and demanding.

But God’s whole business is joy. He is a communion, a community of joy in his own inner life. He created everything as a joyous act of self-communication and seeks, above all, to share his joy with us.

Our readings for this Gaudete Sunday contain a treasure-trove of hints and recommendations in regard to being joyful. The first key to joy is allowing the Holy Spirit to live in you. The Spirit is the love that connects the Father and the Son. So pray for the baptism in the Holy Spirit, which gives you fervor and a sense of mission and divine purpose.

The second key to joy is allowing Christ to clean out the spirits of jealousy, hatred, violence, and self-absorption from your life. Will the work be a tad painful? Of course, but it is the necessary preparation for happiness. When we do this, we realize something of great important: God’s joy is to produce joy in us. Listen to what the prophet Zephaniah says: “He will rejoice over you with gladness, and renew you in his love. He will sing joyfully because of you, as one sings at festivals” (Zephaniah 3:17).

What a wonderful co-inherence of divine and human joy that we celebrate in this third week of Advent!

THE FIRST CRIB

St. Francis of Assisi assembled the first crib in a cave on an Italian hillside in 1223. His aim was to make the Christmas story come alive for the shepherds and farmers of the locality.

On Christmas eve the friars and the people assembled with candles and torches to illuminate the night. Then Francis arrived and was very happy when he saw the preparations they had made.

The crib was put in place.
The hay was brought in.
The ox and donkey were led forward.
The woods rang with their prayers.
The rocks echoed with their hymns.

Francis spoke to them about God's Son coming among us to help us to realize our splendid dignity as sons and daughters of the same Father.

At the end of the vigil they all returned to their homes, full of peace and joy, feeling very close to GOD and to ONE ANOTHER.

Blessed Christmas!

Feast Day of St. Lucy - December 13

St. Lucy

Heavenly Jesus, Saint Lucy vowed to marry only You and revealed this secret after her mother arranged a wedding to a nobleman. When he found out, he had her arrested and tried as a Christian. The judge sent her to a house of prostitution to desecrate her virginity, but You kept her purity intact. You also gave her the grace to joyfully endure her tortures until she died. I ask her intercede for the teenagers and unmarried adults in my family. Dear Lord, help them to see their chastity as a gift to You. I also ask her to pray for the girls You have chosen for a religious vocation. Help them to hear You. Saint Lucy, pray for us. Amen.

December 13 - Jesus Calling

"Take time to be holy. The word holy does not mean goody-goody; it means set apart for sacred use. That is what these quiet moments in My Presence are accomplishing within you. As you focus your mind and heart on Me, you are being transformed: re-created into the one I designed you to be. This process requires blocks of time set aside for communion with Me.

The benefits of this practice are limitless. Emotional and physical healing are enhanced by your soaking in the Light of My Presence. You experience a nearness to Me that strengthens your faith and fills you with Peace. You open yourself up to receive the many blessings that I have prepared for you. You become a cleansed temple of My Holy Spirit, who is able to do in and through you immeasurably more than you ask or imagine. These are just some of the benefits of being still in My Presence."

{2 Thessalonians 1:10; Psalm 27:4; 1 Corinthians 6:19; Ephesians 3:20}

That sounds great Gloria.

It's nice to have them all settled in.

Blessings to all.
