Daily Positive Thread for Labor Day - Monday

Hello my friends!  Today would have been a great day for us to have EWTN! We don't, but I've been seeing alot of Mother Teresa's Cannization on Facebook!  St. Mother Teresa, or St. Teresa of Calcutta, have to get used to her new Saint Name.  I've been posting her sayings on this thread for the longest time.  I even posted her book "No Greater Love" - typed it all out to post here years ago.  Her words of wisdom will never die.

St. Teresa of Calcutta, pray for us! Interecede for us our intentions.

We thank you for all you've done on earth to help the poor - now you are in Jesus and Mary's company.  How wonderful!

Nadine, who helps me with my list, and lives in Finland, had some Missionaries of Charity in her parish, became friends with them, and she became a lay Missionary of Charity.  I bet she is rejoicing now in Finland - oh, its eight hours ahead of us here in MN. It's Monday there already.

Do you still like Mother Teresa's sayings on here?

There is much wisdom in knowing what to overlook.  Lord, may I take
every opportunity to praise and choose carefully when I feel the need
to criticize.

"So we have known and believe the love that God has for us. God is love,
and those who abide in love abide in God, and God abides in them."
~John 4:16

A consciousness of God's presence as one who loves us can make all life
different.  The consciousness of God's love can promote the opening of
our whole being to God.  It can bring wonderful relief from the cares
and worries of our daily lives.  Relief can bring peace and peace can
bring contentment.  We can try to walk in God's love.  We can have a
contentment that no one can take from us.  We can feel sure of God's
unfailing love and care for us and for all God's children.  There is
freedom and serenity in those who walk in God's love, held safe in God's
loving care.

I pray that I may walk in God's love.  I pray that, as I go, I may feel
the spring of God's power in my steps and the joy of God's love in my
heart.

Tell Me about your plans.

What goals have you set? What goals would you like to set? What would you like to do with your time? Tell Me about your job, your hobbies, your leisure activities, your visits with family and friends. How would you like Me to help you? I died for you; certainly I will help you in all other ways, too.

With what special graces do you want Me to favor you? About which situations would you like Me to give you insights? Which gifts of My Spirit do you need to live a more successful Christian life? Ask Me for these, because I long to share them with you—and to share them abundantly.

Tell Me which problems you want Me to help you resolve, which ones you want Me to help you get through as you wait for the resolution. Ask Me to help you increase your trust in our Father’s plans for these problems. He loves you, I love you, My Holy Spirit loves you, and we, as One, desire what’s best for you.

Your tears have touched Me. Tell Me what makes you cry. Lean into My shoulder and let your tears flow. I will absorb your pain, and your tears will become as drops in the ocean. Tell Me how much you need Me to relieve your pain. I already bore your pain on My cross; let Me heal you now.

NO TIME
Author Unknown

I knelt to pray but not for long,
I had too much to do.
I had to hurry and get to work
For bills would soon be due.

So I knelt and said a hurried prayer,
And jumped up off my knees.
My christian duty was now done
My soul could rest at ease.

All day long I had no time
To spread a word of cheer.
No time to speak of Christ to friends,
They'd laugh at me I'd fear.

No time, no time, too much to do,
 That was my constant cry,
No time to give to souls in need
But at last the time to die.

 I went before the Lord,
I came, I stood with downcast eyes.
 For in His hands God held a book;
It was the Book of Life.

God looked into his book and said
 "Your name I cannot find.
I once was going to write it down . . .
 But never found the time"

THE DIFFERENCE BETWEEN STRENGTH AND COURAGE
Author Unknown

It takes strength to be firm.

It takes courage to be gentle.

It takes strength to stand guard.

It takes courage to let down your guard.

It takes strength to conquer

It takes courage to surrender.

It takes strength to be certain.

It takes courage to have doubt.

It takes strength to fit in.

It takes courage to stand out.

It takes strength to feel a friend's pain.

It takes courage to feel your own pain.

It takes strength to hide feelings.

It takes courage to show them.

It takes strength to endure abuse.

It takes courage to stop it.

It takes strength to stand alone.

It takes courage to lean on another.

It takes strength to love.

It takes courage to be loved.

It takes strength to survive.

It takes courage to live.

"....as I was with Moses, so I will be with you. I will not leave you
nor forsake you. Be strong and of good courage...." (Joshua 1:5b-6a)

ARE YOU WILLING?

  • To close your book of complaints and to open the Book of praise?
  • To stop looking for friendship and start being friendly?
  • To ignore what life owes you and think about what YOU owe life?
  • To believe others are quite as sincere as you and to treat them with respect?
  • To cease looking for someone to help you and to devote yourself to helping others?
  •
Prayer for Spouses

Lord Jesus,
Grant that my spouse and I may have a true and understanding love for each other.
Grant that we may both be filled with faith and trust.
Give us the grace to live with each other in peace and harmony.
May we always bear with one another’s weaknesses
and grow from each other’s strengths.
Help us to forgive one another’s failings
and grant us patience, kindness, cheerfulness,
and the spirit of placing the well being of one another ahead of one’s self.
May the love that brought us together grow and mature with each passing year.
Bring us both ever closer to you through our love for each other.
Let our love grow to perfection.

Amen

Thanksgiving Prayer after Mass

I thank you, Holy Lord, almighty Father, eternal God, who deigned to feast me, sinful and unworthy servant, with the precious body and blood of your Son, Jesus Christ our Lord, not for any merit of mine, but only because of your merciful goodness. And I pray that this Holy Communion, far from condemning me to punishment, may bring about my pardon and salvation, encompassing me with the armor of faith and the shield of a good will. By it let my vices be done away, all lustful desires extinguished. May it advance me in charity, patience, humility, obedience, and every other virtue. Let it be strong defense against the wiles of all my enemies, visible and invisible, allaying for me every disturbance of flesh and spirit, binding me firmly to you, the one true God, and bringing my last hour to a happy close. I pray, too, that it may be your pleasure to call my sinful self one day to that banquet, wonderful past all telling, where you, with your Son and the Holy Spirit, feast your saints with the vision of yourself, who are true light, the fulfillment of all desires, the joy that knows no ending, gladness unalloyed, and perfect bliss: through the same Christ our Lord.

Amen.

Prayer of St. Thomas Aquinas

September  - Jesus Calling

In closeness to Me, you are safe. In the intimacy of My Presence, you are energized. No matter where you are in the world, you know you belong when you sense My nearness. Ever since the Fall, man has experienced a gaping emptiness that only My Presence can fill. I designed you for close communication with your Creator. How I enjoyed walking in the garden with Adam and Eve, before the evil one deceived them!

When you commune with Me in the garden of your heart, both you and I are blessed. This is My way of living in the world—through you! Together we will push back the darkness, for I am the Light of the world.

You are my hiding place; you will protect me from trouble and surround me with songs of deliverance.
—Psalm 32:7

Then the man and his wife heard the sound of the Lord God as he was walking in the garden in the cool of the day, and they hid from the Lord God among the trees of the garden. But the Lord God called to the man, “Where are you?”
—Genesis 3:8–9

When Jesus spoke again to the people, he said, “I am the light of the world. Whoever follows me will never walk in darkness, but will have the light of life.”
—John 8:12

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Labor Day - Monday

I love all that you post and Saint Teresa's words are always so lovely and I especially fee their simplicity is what captures me.  Being able to have seen her work on tv and grow up with her makes this even more special.   Would have loved to have been at the Vatican to see Pope Francis and experience this cannonization.

Hope you all have a lovely day this Labor Day.  School is off and will feel nice to have a quiet day ahead of me.  One errand and then home to just be!  Heavenly!

Many blessings and joy to all of you.  Peace, Nancy

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Labor Day - Monday

Thanks, meallen, good to know that!

Here's a prayer to St. Teresa of Calcutta on her first Feast Day - Today!

Prayer To Saint Teresa of Calcutta - Her First Feast Day Today

Saint Teresa of Calcutta, longing to love Jesus as  He had never been loved before, you gave yourself entirely to Him, refusing Him nothing.

In union with the Immaculate Heart of Mary, you accepted His call to satiate His infinite thirst for love and souls and become a carrier of His love to the poorest of the poor.

With loving trust and total surrender you fulfilled His will, witnessing to the joy of belonging totally to Him. You became so intimately united to Jesus your crucified Spouse that He deigned to share with you the agony of His Heart as He hung upon the Cross.

Saint Teresa you promised to continuously bring the light of love to those on earth; pray for us that we also may long to satiate the burning thirst of Jesus by loving Him ardently, sharing in His sufferings joyfully, and serving Him wholeheartedly in our brothers and sisters especially those most unloved and unwanted. Amen.
