Daily Positive Thread for Labor Day, 2015

Hello my friends! It's late, this won't be long, but we just had our first visitors here at the apartment, our daughter, Darla and Greg her husband.  They took us out to eat and then we visited here quite a while and they just left.  It's so nice having them closer again after six long years being in Texas.  That has to be the best blessing of today besides Mass this morning which always blesses us. Thanks Harlene and Love Roses for posting on today's thread. I appreciate it alot. Without posts, this thread will not work. Let us continue to count our blessings of the day which are many.  God bless you all!

Not one day passes without receiving wonderful blessings from our loving
and generous God.  Lord, may I forget the irritations that distract me from
Your happiness.

"Seek the LORD while he may be found, call upon him while he is near."
~Isaiah 55:6

M E D I T A T I O N   F O R   T H E   D A Y

God finds, amid the crowd, a few people who follow, just to be near God,
just to dwell in God's presence.  A longing in the eternal heart may be
satisfied by these few people.  I can let God know that I seek not just to
dwell in God's presence, to be near God, not so much for teaching or a
message, as just for God.  It can be that the longing of the human heart to
be loved for itself is something caught from the great divine heart.

I pray that I may have a listening ear, so that God may speak to me. I pray
that I may have a waiting heart, so that God may come to me.

YOU WILL NEVER BE SORRY...

    • for thinking before acting.
    • for hearing before judging.
    • for forgiving your enemies.
    • for being candid and frank.
    • for helping a fallen brother.
    • for being honest in business.
    • for thinking before speaking.
    • for being loyal to your church.
    • for standing by your principles.
    • for closing your ears to gossip.
    • for bridling a slanderous tongue.
    • for harboring only pure thoughts.
    • for sympathizing with the afflicted.
    • for being courteous and kind to all.

He Loves You So

By the Spirit
Jesus is letting you know,
That he will never
Let you go,

That his love for you
Is free and pure,
That you can trust him
And feel secure.

As you rest in Him,
Your God, your King,
Start counting the blessings
Your choice will bring,

For Christ is the friend
who will stand by your side,
While you dare to trust him
And truly abide.

By the Spirit
He will help you to grow,
Till your heart is assured
That he loves you so.

Is.35:4-7;  Ps.146:7-10;  Jas.2:1-5;  Mk.7:31-37

It doesn't take much to see that there are a lot of people "whose hearts are frightened" by all the terrible things going on in our world today. This is a dangerous world we live in, especially for people of faith, and that's why I believe it's important that we "show no partiality" and take care of one another regardless of our cultural and social differences. In our second reading St.James draws our attention to this often overlooked mistake we make, something we see Jesus countering as He heals a man who would have clearly been an outsider in the Jewish society He lived in. St.Mark makes it a point to tell us that this healing took place "in the region of the Decapolis", in other words in pagan territory where Jews were considered outsiders, and yet it was in this setting that Our Lord gets a reputation for "doing all things well". As His disciples we're called to do the same thing, to reach out to those in need who may be very different than we are and become Christ's Healing Presence among them, and when we consider the condition our world is in the need for people like that is obvious. The truth is we have an obligation to do the very same things our psalmist describes just as Jesus did them, and the Spirit within us empowers us to do just that. Yes, a Spirit-led life in the midst of these troubling and disturbing times can have a healing effect on everyone by relieving the fears that plague our world today, and the bottom line is if that's all we accomplish over the course of our lives than we really have "done all things well"!

God bless you,

September 6

January 29, 1936. In the evening, when I was in my cell, I suddenly saw a great light and a dark gray cross high up within the light. Suddenly, I found myself caught up close to the cross. I gazed at it intently, but could not understand anything, and so I prayed, asking what it could mean. At that moment I saw the Lord Jesus, and the cross disappeared. The Lord Jesus was sitting in a great light, and His legs, up to the knees, were drowned in the light so that I could not see them. Jesus bent toward me, looked at me kindly and spoke to me about the will of the Heavenly Father. He told me that the most perfect and holy soul is the one that does the will of the Father, but there are not many such, and that He looks with special love upon the soul who lives His will. And Jesus told me that I was doing the will of God perfectly... and for this reason I am uniting Myself with you and communing with you in a special and intimate way.      (603)

September 6 - Jesus Calling

Do everything in dependence on Me. The desire to act independently—apart from Me—springs from the root of pride. Self-sufficiency is subtle, insinuating its way into your thoughts and actions without your realizing it. But apart from Me, you can do nothing: that is, nothing of eternal value. My deepest desire for you is that you learn to depend on Me in every situation. I move heaven and earth to accomplish this purpose, but you must collaborate with Me in this training. Teaching you would be simple if I negated your free will or overwhelmed you with My Power. However, I love you too much to withdraw the godlike privilege I bestowed on you as My image-bearer. Use your freedom wisely, by relying on Me constantly. Thus you enjoy My Presence and My Peace.

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.”
—John 15:5

Finally, be strong in the Lord and in his mighty power.
—Ephesians 6:10

Then God said, “Let us make man in our image, in our likeness, and let them rule over the fish of the sea and the birds of the air, over the livestock, over all the earth, and over all the creatures that move along the ground.” So God created man in his own image, in the image of God he created him; male and female he created them.

Gloria, so nice to see you and Linus are enjoying having Darla so close.

We all prayed so hard for her to be able to work at a  College close to home and the

Lord answered our prayers.

Blessings to all.

Gloria, So glad to hear you're settling in to your new apartment. What a blessing to have Darla home again.  I'm still praying for that house sale, I'm sure it'll happen soon.  Karl will have some pre-tests this week before getting lithotripsy for his kidney stones. Needs an EKG, chest x-Ray, etc.  Hopefully he will be feeling better soon.  Please continue to pray for him.  Thanks...Marmot

Re: Daily Positive Thread for Labor Day, 2015

Hello to All!

Best of this three day holiday.  It's very warm here in the Los Angeles area.  We will have a bar b que and staying home today.  Crowds will be heading home from the 3-day actually 4-day for some as they left Thursday to their destinations. Blessings today - I am decluttering an area or rather a pile of jeans that need to be donated.  I don't know why I had so many but they are in excellent condition and someone will get the good.  I like being clutter free and organized but sometimes things get out of hand.

Enjoy your day everyone.  Be at peace and know you are loved.

Gloriajean, so good to see you posting.  I'm glad that move was successful and that you are nearer to your DD and DSIL.
