I had a experience today with a person telling me right off the bat,he does not believe in tipping.I  didn't know what to say, other than takes his order(and hopes he chokes on it......kidding) and that was that.

I could go on,but best to keep my yap shut.....

There's a boob in every crowd!!!  But, what goes around comes around, don't worry, even if you don't get to see it, believe me, he'll get his payback when he least expects it.  He's just that kind of...

Re: DO YOU BELIEVE IN TIPPING?

This was a date?

I had the impression the OP is a server and was told by a customer that he wouldn't tip.

I guess I'm confused about the circumstances.

@Luvsmyfam   That guy sounds like a jerk.   I always tip and don't understand people that don't.  If the waiter was rude...that is a different story, but I have never experienced that.  When I take my 10 year old granddaughter out to eat, I always have her personally hand the tip to the person who served us and say thank you.  She enjoys it and it shows respect.

I took it that she was the waitress.

Do I "believe" in tipping?  Yes, but the amount varies.

Sounds like this guy was a jerk ... and a very cheap one, at that.  Ugh.

I also do not add a tip to my bll, but leave it in bills.

I've read at some restaurants, the host(s) that receive a cash tip has to give it to the manager and she/he puts all cash tips together.  At the end of the shift, divides all collected among the other hosts.

It's not everywhere, guess in certain states.  I've always put the tip on the cc card. I used to leave cash.

The dude doesn't seem too bright if he told his server right at the beginning that he wasn't going to tip them.

Probably doesn't get out much.

Re: DO YOU BELIEVE IN TIPPING?

Tips according to what the service is.  If it's good or great, then a very good tip.  If service is mediocre or not good -- very little.  To me, giving a good tip when the service is bad, is like praising someone when they same something mean to you.  Oh, thank you -- I needed that!  No, don't think so!  Oh, and yes -- I do believe in tipping.

Re: DO YOU BELIEVE IN TIPPING?

The question is, "do you believe in tipping"?  Yes, I do.

I tip servers as they don't get paid at least minimum wage.  (At least not in my state).

I have a problem with tipping hair stylists, lawn companies, massage therapists, etc.

They set their own prices for the services offered.  I'm unsure to dole out tips unless the person goes above and beyond.  I'm not tipping for picking up a pizza at the counter of a pizza place.

It goes on and on.
