@Jordan2 I feel for the situation you're in. The group I go to has about 5 or 6 doctors but some don't do cataracts. Some specialize in other eye problems such as retinas, etc. The doctor I see for my cataract specializes in cataracts. He did the first eye and then this past October when I was scheduled to have him do the second eye, he had a heart issue about two weeks prior to my surgery. I had the option of having another eye doctor, one that only comes to the office once a month, to do my eye or wait until my doctor recuperated, and who knows how long that would be. So, after giving it a lot of thought and looking up the credentials and patient reviews for this other docter, I decided to go with him. I didn't even know what he looked like other than seeing a picture on the website. I was like you and wanted it over and done. What I didn't like about him was he told me he could put the standard lens in but he could use the 'new' laser technique for $1700 more (not covered by insurance) or use the standard method which is covered by Medicare. I asked him what the benefit would be and all he could tell me was the laser techniques was 'softer' on the eye and healing would be a little quicker. I chose to go the standard method.
Could you possibly go to another doctor who takes your plan instead of the 'factory of doctors'? I go to a dental place that's like that and hate it as well. Like you, my dental insurance is limited to who I can go to.
