I have been with my agent 7 years never had a claim.  My insurance rates are high because of my zip code (there must theft or other claims outside my present area) as we are seniors in all 3 buildings and have no problems here with cars.  So I call my agent up and I told her I wanted to drop collison since my car is 2005.  I said my rates keep going up.  She tells me my rates have been the same for 4 years (that was a lie).  I told her I would call back once I made a decision.  So I call back today and she was shocked that I had the figures for each category on my car.  Take off collison which is $104.05 and I will keep comprehensive.  In my first call she is telling me I need to take off comprehensive too.  Then she said, oh you flooked over the figures.  Did she think I would make a decision without looking at everything and I corrected her on a couple of things but never brought up the fact that she lied about my rates being the same for 4 years.  Little does she know that I will be changing agents.  If you cannot be truthful with me, I cannot trust you.  I can imagine how she handles clients that are older than me.   Well this senior chick has her number.  Ever have your agent lie to you??   Cat Mad

Too many choices out there to be  treated unfairly.

I have a sports car with an enormous engine.    You would faint if you knew what I pay for insurance.    But.......it's my "only vice"...........(!!)

How fast did she give you that answer?   I ask that because I suspect she was talking off the top of her head instead of trying to get away with a lie.  However -  that's as bad as a lie when it comes to doing business.  It's bad news that she thinks she can brush you off!

Do some investigating because if the company you're now using ends up with the coverages and rates you want, then just ask for a new agent.  I think every company honors those requests.

I recently had a conversation with our agent, he handles home, auto and our business.  I noticed that our homeowners jumped quite a bit this year and he said it is because the company does not like our $250 deductilble and are probably trying to get us to leave or up the deductible to $1000....but during the course of the conversation he told me since we had such a good credit score he could get our auto insurance lowered by $100.00!!  ..so long story short, when looking for another company see if that is a possibility for you.

I don't use an agent, I get group rates through my union.

Once I changed companies, kept exact same insurance

and saved $700 a year.

We have been using our agent for about 5 years for auto insurance. Before that, we used that same company for about 40 years for our car. This agent has been handling our Honeowners policy for about 15 years or more. Our rates have gone up, especially the last two years.  It's a shell game. They give you a good rate and then the next year, the price goes up. I told my broker, we want better pricing or we will find a different company for our car insurance.  We did our own research and found, when we went directly to the same insurance co. (as we had through the broker) we would be saving $1300.00 a year. We are still astonished. We told the co. we wanted to match our old policy exactly and they did, to the tee. Amazing. I have always been a sceptic but I'll take this one. Even if they raise us next year, who cares. As long as the policy is exactly the same and we know that this company is extremely reputable, we don't see how we can lose. The insurance ua with AARP. Check out coverage on your own. Good luck.

We just left Farm Bureau insurance...why because for 2 cars no accidents they were charging us over 2800 every 6 months. My husband has been with them his whole life...way over 40 years. We change to AAA and the cost is 2005.00 per YEAR! Same coverage...we went over it line by line. We feel duped because we stayed with them so long. My husband did hit a buck down the street but this cost was before that. The AAA cost was after hitting the deer.

No, I never had that happen, but we switched companies when we found we could save a considerable amount.

You can save a whole lot of money if you skip the agent & buy directly from an insurance company. The major companies have toll free numbers you can call for quotes. For example Geico,Travelers,Liberty Mutual etc.If you prefer you can go to their websites for online quotes too.
