Calling Kachina

[ Edited ]

@Kachina624

I took this picture for you last week and DH just remembered to shrink it.

Here is the duck pond.  Now you can see more detail without all of the green.

The other pond a few feet below is twice the sixe and has wild iris in purple and orange and cattails.

You can also see the mountain that helps to form the cove.

@ECBG    So pretty.  Does anyone ever swim in them?  Pretty soon it'll be baby duckling season again.  You've surely got a nice property.

No, too shallow and things can wash in from the creek.  Our grandson was being his "usual" self (Evil Knievel), and fell in last fall, when it had turned cool!

You're so welcome.  That is a 15 foot drop off of our driveway and loads of fun in the ice!

We'll have ducklings in the spring and get to watch them learn to swim.

Well, very interesting to say the least!  Not only the ducklings, but DH has had to break down beaver dams that flooded the entire place.  Then the herons land, really, not kidding;  we must be their stop over.  They sound like helicopters.

We have everything from white squirrels, deer, bear, and an occasional wild cat from the mountains.  I haven't even started on the black snakes and several others.

@ECBG - I originally come from northern NJ so we did see a lot of wildlife - I think they used my yard as the cut through, lol. Didn't see many snakes in my area (although I'm sure they were there) except the garter snakes.

In SC, do I ever see snakes. They are everywhere! All kinds. I do love seeing/photographing the gators.
