The older you get, the more difficult they are to use as a newbie. . My son got them at age 12, he did great from the start, I was told that his age group make for the best new contact wearers. Good luck !!!

I had glasses for a few years then got contacts as a teenager. I had the kind that

you wore supposed to remove every night and clean and then store in a case.

Many nights I fell asleep with my contacts in. Many times I dropped one when

removing them. I still preferred them over glasses.

Several years later I saved up for Lasik and had the surgery. It was a life saver for

me. Twenty some years later my eyes are fine.

I wore the contacts in my 30's but it didn't go well with me as I'd misplace them.  Went to glasses and then got cataract surgery.  Only wear readers now.

I don't have any pointers other than you just have to get used to it and be brave.  I have the same hesitancy issue with giving myself shots.  It's panic time.

I had a tough time when I started wearing hard contacts at 18 and couldn't get them out.  But I got used to it.  After 30 years of wearing them I just popped one out, stuck it in my mouth to clean it, and put it back in without using a mirror.

Forgot to mention the Daily lens might seem pricey, but

By the time You buy enzyme cleaner and quality saline for the weekly, monthly, quarterly kind You’ve spent what You would have on the One A Day Disposables.

I wear both glasses and daily wear contacts.  Back in the day I wore other contacts but the daily wear are great - just toss out at the end of the day and put in a fresh pair the next time.  But I've been wearing them for years.  There may be a bit of a learning curve to start with them but you can buy one box and give them a try.

I tried the soft lenses many many years ago and gave up after just a short time of wearing them. I was afraid that after years of pulling down my lower lids I would develop wrinkles under the eyes lol.

I had the traditional hard contact lenses in my thirties but one of my eyes was always irritated due to the contact scratching my eye.  So, gave up on contacts.  The soft lenses weren't going to work for my prescription.  I got the lenses in green, made it easier to find when one would pop out, lol.

@Shanus

Years ago I wanted to try contacts and was told - get this ---- you are too old!!!  What?  I  never thought there was an age to wearing contacts!  Anyway, I have very dry eyes and other problems now and couldn't wear them even if I did want to.

Regarding your issues with glasses, can't a good optical place work with you and help you with getting the proper fit?

Perhaps looking at frames for children would work better for you?

I also have a small face and high cheekbones.

This might not be a good option for you but I purchase my glasses on line from zenni. They have a large selection of all kinds of glasses, all prices, and they have children's frames. They also have sizing info and indicate weights of frames, etc.  It takes some time to read everything but I have had good luck and have been buying my glasses from them for probably 15 years.

By the way, didn't you just have a birthday?  I thought I remembered that your birthday was on the 20th?  I might be wrong but I thought we had the same birthday.  If so, happy belated birthday!

Good luck and I hope you can get this solved.
