We've had rain here in my part of Indiana most of the day - heavy rain.  Tonite just a light sprinkle - took dogs for a walk and the bullfrogs were talking to us our entire walk.  And the beautiful scent of honeysuckle in the air - you just can't beat this time of year.  The rain brought a little bit of a cool down which should continue next week.

Re: Bullfrogs and honeysuckle

Your walk sounds lovely.  I love how fresh the air smells after a rain.  There's nothing like a walk in nature to renew the soul.

Re: Bullfrogs and honeysuckle

That's funny I just read an article about how honeysuckle is so invasive that some states have banned its sale.  I hope you didn't see to much of it.

I've read that honeysuckle and mint are too plants you never can get rid of and from my experience I think it's true.

@hoosieroriginal  When you hear bullfrogs and smell honeysuckle on an evening walk, you know all's right with the world.

Re: Bullfrogs and honeysuckle

When I was a child playing on this property where I built my house, I always looked forward to seeing the wild violets, honeysuckle, Jack in the pulpit, and lady slippers.  As careful as we were to leave those areas untouched, only the wild violets have been seen in recent years.

My husband just spent an entire day ripping the honeysuckle off our back fence.  I know it will be back again next year because we don't want to spray and kill everything in the vicinity.

Re: Bullfrogs and honeysuckle

Aww, that sounds nice. We have some honeysuckle where I take my dogs for a walk also. I absolutely love the smell. We also have a pond with bullfrogs. Every year, when they first start croaking, talking or whatever they are doing, I am always amazed at how loud they are, lol.
