I thought the idea of a shower was that the bride opens the gifts and everyone "oohs and ahs"(??) That's the fun of a shower. Maybe this is a new trend that I am not aware of? I just feel a little insulted that I am invited to a shower just to drop off a gift that I spent a lot of time and thought on and then "adios." I can understand this being the case at a wedding where I would not expect a bride and groom to spend time opening gifts, but a bridal shower is a bunch of ladies enjoying watching the bride being "showered" with gifts. Maybe someone can enlighten me. Thanks!
I always thought watching someone open gifts was dumb and a waste of time. As far as the bolded, it sounds like *you* want the oohs and ahs.
@ThinkingOutLoud Sometime you think out loud too much, lol. She was just askin. Jmho

Are you also going to call out the others who said they don't like watching someone open the gifts or are you just targeting me for your snide remark?

@Bubby Mommy Sort of new. Maybe last 8 years or so. I am 77, so that tells you a bit. I have been to a few showers last several years,, to granddaughters, or her friends. No one my age is getting married or having kids, lol! It depends on the kind of shower ...Smaller showers I think Bride-to-be still opens gifts. Especially if they held in a home, or non rented facility. Sometimes showers are large ,since now a days they drag the husbands as well. it takes a long time to open gifts, so ..many showers they wait til home to open gifts. This goes for wedding gifts as well. The wedding industry is big business for sure. I miss seeing baby shower gifts. But I admit, after the 14th gift I tend to,wander.

I’m with the ones that enjoy watching the opening of the gifts. I took the time, money and effort to purchase a gift and travel to the shower, I want to see what they get. Their reaction. I especially like seeing hand made items. The games…not so much but enjoy the meal, catching up with family and friends gathered and the opening of the gifts.

I , too enjoy watching the gift opening, provided there are not a hundred gifts..Especially Baby Showers, but I love babies and all of the cute thigns associated with them..
I enjoy some of the games, but some can get to be too much. Plus once you play two-that is plenty no need to play 4 or 5 games-you lose people's interest that way in my opinion.
I enjoy Baby showers more thatn Bridal Showers, but I do like both...
