I don't hear much from my neighbors.  One side doesn't believe in mowing or doing yard work.  They put the house on the market in January.  We had snow Friday and they didn't bother to clear it for their open house today.  This will be the forth new neighbors in eleven years.  Hopefully the new ones will take interest in their yard and also be quiet. 🔇

I too am blessed with good neighbors! The last big snow we had here in NJ my dh was away and I had a cast on my leg. Someone rang my doorbell and it was my neighbor with my mail. She and her dh had shoveled my porch, walks, driveway and cleaned my car!

Been neighbors for 30+ years! Our sons grew up together. Thank Haven for putting good people in your life!

I think today when people are more mobile there is less of a chance of having a "good" neighbor.  People move more and neighborhoods are less established.  Years ago people more or less stayed on one place promoting neighborhoods.  My mom had a wonderful neighbor for over 50 years.  They helped each other and looked out for each other.  Today, I really do not know my neighbor on one side.

I had great neighbors and after 21 yrs of living there, I moved to a smaller home, subdivision is new so a lot of young couples with young kids. Though the kids are great, they moved in 2 weeks after I did, and every day the parents would say Hello Neighbor, now their little 4 year old always comes up to her driveway and yells out Hi Neighborhood, she is so cute and adorable. But I do miss my old neighbors, we still exchange texts but of course, not the same.

You are fortunate to have a neighbor that also is more a friend than a neighbor. Our rural type home is not real close to any neighbor. Their tree limbs can't fall on our property and where our properties do join, it is separated by lots of big trees.

The neighbors in one home are strange, putting it mildly, and weird to be more accurate. Lights out at 8pm and they go to work the same time as my wife, before she retired. 

If your saw a Rescue Squad in your neighbors driveway and saw a neighbors wife mowing their acreage 2 weeks later! Would a decent neighbor maybe ask what's up with the Rescue Squad over a week ago? 

Now Rescue has been here 5 times(only 3 houses even close and our road ends as a cul-di-sac), 3 times for myself and twice for my wife. Not a peep from either in the couple, no children, no animals, just themselves.

When I meet either at our rural mailboxes,bI look right through them while staring eye to eye, but they quickly look away. Not caring if a neighbor lived or died? What would anyone think of that kind of neighbor? My answer! People I want nothing to do with in any way.

I live in a townhouse community and my court is mostly original owners from 1993 and very few rentals.  The house next to me has turned over from rental to owner to rental again over the years.  I always start off on the right foot with the new renters as they move in, bring them a small gift, give them my contact information.  Sometimes it's okay, other times it goes downhill fast.

The people renting now are annoying, but not as bad as some.  I understand this may be their last year here, so I am torn with hoping they leave and praying I don't get someone worse.
