Re: Bird's Nest - March 2021

Had a storm come through the other day with up to 60 mph winds and some snow.  That night the power was on and off so many times I lost count.  The microwave keypad went blank but we did eventually get it to work.  The generator was on and off all night long.  Our daughter lost her power for 3 days and just got it back and she lives 1 mile from us.

The TV was on and off constantly and I pulled the plug.  Had TV yesterday and today it started acting up.  It was freezing up and no sound.  Finally it booted itself up and so far all is good.

Today I went to the hospital lab for a special blood test to see if the biologic (Stelara) is working.  Had to be done on the same day as I was to take the shot and before the injection.  Thank goodness the lab which is usually packed with people was empty at the time of day that I went.  Came home took off clothes and washed them all and stored my sneakers in the basement after spraying them with Lysol.  Jumped in the shower and then started to cook dinner.  My husband injected the shot into me because I was a sissy.  All went well.

I am losing a ton of hair daily and also my nails are peeling and I feel it is the new biologic but doc says no.

We had some very cold days and nights this week but it is to warm up to the upper 40's next week.  We go for our second covid vaccine next Tuesday and hopefully I will not have any bad side effects because the Friday (after waiting several months)after I have a dental appointment for some major work to be done.

After seeing a male Cardinal at our feeders for several months a female finally showed up.  They arrive together and the female is finally warming up to eating at the feeders.

We had a Bluebird testing out the birdhouse that we put up a few years ago.  That was a few days ago and today we had a small bird.....couldn't see the kind of bird but it was going in and out of the birdhouse too.  Hopefully we will have a family of birds in the birdhouse this year.  Last summer at another bird house we had a family of Barn Swallows there.

@Bird mama

Glad to hear that your received some money back from the Dennis Basso jacket that you purchased.  QVC is pretty good about that.

Take care everyone!!!

Re: Bird's Nest - March 2021

@luvsbulldogs   you know your body and if you say that the biologic is causing hair loss and peeling fingernails then the bioligic is causing hair loss and peeling fingernails.  I don't know if we've talked about a biotin supplement before; maybe you can ask your doctor if you can take a biotin supplement like Nature Made (over the counter).

When I was first prescribed synthroid for my underactive thyroid I noticed an increase in belly fat within the first 5 months.  I'm talking - she looks pregnant - belly fat.  No matter what I did exercise wise or diet wise, everything else was firming up and that belly was growing.  I researched and found I wasn't alone, other women were reporting an increase in belly fat after they started to take synthroid (or the generic).

At my 6 months follow up with the endocrinologist, I brought up the belly fat thing and barely got the sentence out when the doctor was saying no that's not true.  Meanwhile I'm the one with the belly.  I realized it was like spitting in the wind trying to talk to her so I decided that night that I would take my synthroid at night and not in the morning.  I never told her.

The belly fat went away, I felt like myself and passed my annual blood work.  A couple of years into it I told her that I took synthroid at night, not morning and she gave me a look.

My point of the story is this - sometimes they focus on the outcome blood work wise and forget to ask the patient, so how are you feeling?  Really?

There are times when you must speak, not because you are going to change the opposing side, but because if you do not speak, they have changed you.

Re: Bird's Nest - March 2021

The pictures are so relaxing in this thread. Just terrific.

Hope all have a great day. A tad chilly - AGAIN - here in Sou Cal. At least I believe it will be a dry day. Do not like the drizzle, Rain I love but drizzle n. Just makes the roads a big dangerous. And we now have so many big trucks zipping along the freeways  - and other surface streets. They also park everywhere which is a no no but they seem to continue so I guess nothing is said.

Hope all have a great day.
