I say, of you are able....get a retro bike, a good lock, put a basket, light on it.  Take yourself to store, and maybe to lunch or a snack!   Or just ride around the neighborhood to start.  If you live in traffic area, find a path

There really isn't a safe place to ride around here. You could get run over by cars. Bike lanes here are for speed-racing bicycles, not for slow-pokes like me.

This!   If I lived in a bike friendly state (Colorado), I'd be riding a bike.  Where I live, I'd have to load a bike into my vehicle and drive somewhere safe to ride.

As a kid I rode my bike all over.  Now, no.  I've said I have  the balance of a drunken toddler these days.

About 15 years ago, I was 60, DH and I decided to start riding bikes.  He had one and i found a plain Jane (no hand brakes) at Walmart for about $99.  We are rural but riding on roads near home is begging to be run over,  People drive like maniacs.  We loaded the bikes in the car and drove to the school and rode around the parking lot.  Somehow it wasn't as much fun as I remembered.  I enjoyed the gym more.

When I was very young our street wasn't paved yet even though we lived in a suburb of a good size town.  In the summer they would spray oil to keep the dust down.  Well, one day when I was 9 or 10 I got on my bike and started down the street.  They had just oiled the bottom half.  You guessed it, I hit that oil and the bike went one way and Jane went the other.  I had one leg (I had shorts on) and arm full of road rash and oil.  Mom had to use something like Lestoil to get the oil off.  I was one sore puppy for awhile.  Luckily they paved our street by summer's end.

I rode my bike up to a year ago, even after my hip replacement.  I have not been able to handle it anymore, had a knee replacement in December.  The helmet makes my balance off.🤷🏻‍♀️☹️

I am 75.  I walk over a mile a day and ride the stationary bike.

I used to love riding my bicycle.

My husband gave me a Moto Guzzi when we were in our late 20's and lived in a hilly neighborhood so that I could use the motor if I tired from going uphill so much.

But I loved my Schwinns, especially my 1st Miss Debbie.

I stopped riding bikes in my early 50's because it hurt my knees to ride.

Out driving this morning (and yesterday) I noticed & thought of this thread...Seniors are the majority of bike riders I ever see in my area! 🚴
