My DH and I ride our bikes on occassion. For a good bit of time we did it everyday. Then we stopped, probably because it was too hot outside. We never really got back in the habit again of doing it daily. Now he is having knee trouble, so we likely won't.

Well I've known friends of friends who knew people in their 80's and 90's that not only rode bikes, but went on bike tours in Europe etc.
Me...68, gave up my 10 speed Mountain bike about 6 years ago, and hadn't ridden it before then for about 6 years, since my last bad accident on it. I'd had 3. One definitely wasn't my fault, and was when I was in my early 30's. My date at the time went too fast on a bike path, got too close to my bike, and locked spokes! Had to walk back from the bike path, to our car, bleeding, so that was fun. 🙄
The last one brought me to the emergency room, broke a toe, lucky I didn't break a hip or head, leg, knee swelled up like a balloon. I misjudged a curb, went to swerve at the last minute and went flying. Yep, not ashamed to admit that.
And with Osteoperosis, and me not even loving biking that much....(and bf telling me, daily..."you better stick to walking for exercise!!") Ha...he's right...it was not worth it to me....I don't miss it one bit. I owned it 20+ years hardly ever rode it. But that's me, not everyone...I certainly see people my age and older around me, riding bikes.

There really isn't a safe place to ride around here. You could get run over by cars. Bike lanes here are for speed-racing bicycles, not for slow-pokes like me.

Me too, but I don't think I would try it at this age.
Very concerned about falling and breaking a hip, don't ya know.

I would love to be able to ride a bike but since my cervical fusion I need to be especially careful about protecting my neck. I'm wobbly too, so biking is no longer in the cards.

Yes, my husband and I still bike ride, hes almost 70 and I am 67. He bikes for about 20 miles several times a week, I do not.....I mostly like to stick around our neighborhood and I like to bike when our grandkids come down too.....I am not a big distance rider at all. My husbnad is in a riding club, so they log their time and miles, and he really enjoys it!!!!!

I can't even ride my stationary bike I have at home since I had to have a second right knee replacement in 2020 ! It's sitting in a corner of my bedroom
I need to sell it or give it away !

I did ride my yellow Schwin with a basket to work and to school when I was a teenager and in my twenties.
Now, not gonna do that!
It really amazes me today when I think of how I rode miles to college and to work between 2 different cities and thought nothing of it.!
No way would I do that now or want anyone I know to do that.
I never heard of bike tours. That sounds like a lot lol!

The last time I was on a 10-speed bike was about 30+ years ago, my hubby and I used to ride on the beach path, somehow not paying attention I must have hit a pebble or something and flew over the handle bars onto the pavement, skinned both wrists and forearms, never rode my bike again. I stick to riding my stationary bike.

Sounds like those of you who rode, enjoyed yourselves while you could.
I don't ride now and have to donate the two biles to a charity.
I've not in the best of health to ever ride a bike now.
I have the precious memories and when I give away the bikes, I will be saddened.
Will always rememer my husband for all the enjoyment we had bike riding.
